Pleasant surprise

We happened by near lunchtime, and the plat de jour sounded good, so we stopped. We were met by a friendly, multi-lingual host who took good care of us. The food was as good as... read more

The idea was to have a quick coffee before lunch and after a long browse at Shakespeare and Company. Our daughter went off to use the toilettes while the rest of us (parents and boyfriend) still standing, looked at the coffee list--and we were extremely glad that we did. Six euros plus for a café crème? You must be joking.... More

My husband and I found this place after being turned away at another cafe because all we wanted were drinks. The waitress here welcomed us and seated us outside as the weather that day was fantastic. Once she learned it was our first time in Paris, she chatted with us about our plans and even brought us a free "welcome... More

We happened by near lunchtime, and the plat de jour sounded good, so we stopped. We were met by a friendly, multi-lingual host who took good care of us. The food was as good as the service (we had quiche and soup) and a good value. Restrooms were decent, too. Great background music (electronica, not too loud). Recommended! Also not... More

We popped in here while waiting for our bus tour leaving from the stop across the road. Very friendly staff, good music and relaxed atmosphere.

Stopped off at this little Bar/ Cafe for a snack and few drinks, but stayed most of the afternoon and came back the following evening as the Staff were so friendly, drinks were some of the cheapest we had during our stay, not a great view but nice just to sit outside and watch the world go by and enjoy... We were clearly here at an off time of day, but enjoyed our simple bar/pub lunch. Other places had turned us away. I don't remember exactly what we ordered, but it was some combination of soup, salad, grilled sandwich, and fries. Due to the odd hour, late for lunch, but too early for cocktails, the staff was limited, obviously between... More

A good bar in a good location, very friendly staff, reasonable prices for Paris ( 7 euros for a beer ) and a happy hour which was actually 4 hours long that made them cheaper still. Decent background music, English and French football on 2 or 3 large screens, tappas type food available from the bar. Live music upstairs on... More

Just spent five days in Paris frequented quite a few bars in that time with Beverley Jaap and Zara but the one we went back to was polly magoo had Friday night there and was treated really well by staff and management alike. Food and drinks reasonably priced for paris live music upstairs created a lovely atmosphere.

Staying in Odeon / Saint-Michel

Neighborhood Profile
Odeon / Saint-Michel
As the bustling center of entertainment for the residents of the Rive Gauche, the activity at Odéon never stops. Boulevards are lined with traditional cafes, restaurants, and boutique cinemas. The streets surrounding the fountain at Saint-Michel provide eateries from around the world. Lively bars are just next door and the prototypical terraced French brasserie is on every corner. The setting for this area is second to none; the Haussmann-style boulevards are contrasted by monumental architecture and overshadowed by the iconic Notre Dame, all within a moment’s walk from the Seine. This neighborhood's world-famous bookshops, cafés, and streets will not fail to impress you.
