It was not the Da Vinci Code, but monumental 19th-century paintings by Eugene Delacroix that first brought me to Ste. Sulpice over a dozen years ago. "Jacob Wrestling with the Angel" is one of the most amazing pictures I've ever seen. The church itself has a heavy Baroque feel given its architecture. It's also famous for its organ. In the... More

Saint-Sulpice is a very beautiful church with a lot of history. It has a great organ and a peculiar design. It's the second largest church in Paris, but many tourists ignore it, but it worth the visit. More

The church is nice, with the mysterious lines and so on that you read about in Dan Brown - and the neighborhood towards the rue Madamoiselle is even nicer. More

This was a big surprise for us when we dropped in. We weren't expecting much but the sight definitely exceeded our expectations. It is close to the Luxembourg Gardens and Notre Dame so it can be easily put in between a visit to both. Our visit was a short but there was a nice organ concert on Sunday at 12.... More

While any cathedral has breath-taking views when you step inside, Saint-Sulpice adds a huge bonus by allowing you to stand next to the organist, Daniel Roth, while he's playing for the second Sunday morning mass. Suddenly, the cavernous echo chamber feels like heaven as you hear the massive organ fill the huge space with ease. Roth plays effortlessly and skillfully... More

Will, I must admit that I love to photograph. Saint-Sulpice has an outstanding fountain outside decorated with lions. Good. And inside you have this beautiful view - the huge windows, the sacred pièta, and over all the very large churchroom - very unreal for a traveller from the lutheran Scandinavia. Didn´t match with a organ-consert this time - a shame... More
