A Paris friend reported that he had read in the local press that this wonderful bookstore has closed. I have not returned to Paris to confirm this, but visitors to Paris would do well to make enquiries before planning a visit to the Village Voice.

The Village Voice offers a wide range of contemporary publications in English with a great range of literature and many books of non-fiction. They offer most of the inprint English language books on Paris and France, and it is very hard to get out without buying something. I lived in Paris for seven years, from 1988 to 1995. The Village Voice is far and away the best English bookstore in Paris. It doesn't have the biggest selection but it has the best, and it is in a great neighborhood. I visit it whenever I go back.
