There are only 32 standing places - so you'll be lucky if you get one. I arrived 2 hours early and was #34! BUT, head on round to the right ie away from main flight of steps and there is another ticket office. If you're lucky enough to be under 25/65+/or out work -and yes they want proof! - join... More

We saw Rusalka and even very good voices could not overcome very bad set and bad directing. It is a shane. the voices were beautiful as were the people but they could not overcome bad sets.

Lovely performance of Rusalka, interesting set, very good performances, it was easy to get excellent seats online (about two months before the performance). Two odd things about the set, however. There is a pool that the water nymphs play in in the first act that appeared to be quite slippery. A couple of times nymphs slipped in it and once... More

I am not a regular patron of ballet, but I found Rudolph Nureyev's production of Swan Lake (Le Lac des Cygnes) most enjoyable. This modern opera house is intriguing as well.

A great performance in a great opera. We bought tickets from home on the Internet. If you want to visit the opera in Paris you have to buy tickets in advance.

We went to Opera Bastille to see the first night of Rusalka (same production as that famously staged in 2002 by Robert Carsen). Both principals were late engagements and both Svetlana Askenova and Pavel Cernoch performed exceedingly well. The ochestra was very very good This is a brilliantly designed modern opera house. The sight lines and acoustics are excellent and... More

Attending an opera here is generally the highlight of my visits to Paris. So last year I was terribly disappointed when the cast and orchestra went out on a one-night sympathy strike for the evening that I held my ticket. The management returned my money immediately, but the cancellation meant a year's wait before going to another performance. That proved... More

We were so tired we didn't go in but it is a beautiful building from the outside. Unfortunately we were hungry and tired and in need of a place to rest and have a glass of wine. I will make a point of going here on my next visit.

You can't really go wrong here in that the venue offers wonderful performances. The hall is short and high (as most opera houses are). We were in the front row of the second mezzanine. The orchestra somewhat overwhelmed the vocalists. We went to La Boheme and of course we cried like fools. It was an excellent performance. The opera house... More
