When faced with the recent taxi strike in Paris, the river boards (in particular the Bateaux-Mouches) that operate on the Seine make the river a great alternative to getting to some of the major attractions. The Seine is a lovely destination on its own, allowing great views of mainstays such as the Louvre, Hotel de Ville and Notre-Dame. A great... More

We walked from the Lurve to the Eiffel tower. There is lots to do on the walk down the river, there are lots of weird and wonderful greations on the river bank, including chess tables and things. We went on a river cruise which was very informational!

We were in Paris for 5 days, we took 1 cruise that is non-stop about 1 hour that gives you a great overview of the city. We then got a 2-day hop on hop off boat that has 8 stops and is a great way to travel the historic areas of the city after you've been walking for 3 days!!

We got a ticket on the Batobus which is a hop on hop off run on the Seine river in Paris. Only way to get around and avoid being stuck hours in traffic. We got to see all attractions in one day using this as our transport. You get some great photo shots also from the river. It is not... More

Stayed near Gare de Lyon and decided to walk to the key tourist area via the river. Whilst the views of all sites is wonderful doing this you soon realise there is another side to Paris. Masses of tent cities pop up on the banks and you just couldn't walk there after dark. All along we smelt constantly urine ,... More

Like the old saying, a "river runs through" the centre of Paris. If you visit Paris you will inevitably see the Seine, but an evening stroll along its banks will enable you to see some of the most memorable landmarks of this great city from a new perspective. The Tour Eiffel, Musee D'Orsay and Notre Dame are all situated next... More

We took the one hour Seine river cruise. It was very well organised. It was very busy but there was plenty of room to feel comfortable. It was a great way to see the various sites and places of interest from the river. A very enjoyable experience - would recommend to couples, singles, groups and families. A definite must in... More

History, and beauty and charm. Loved walking next to it and seeing the life on the river and around the river. Missed a river cruise and sorry for that.

The River Seine provided a good opportunity for a peaceful rest (away from the crowds) after a wonderful sightseeing session of the Musee d'Orsay and the Musee du Louvre. The seats along the bank were a very welcome sight, and the shade was much appreciated on a very hot June day. The views of the river traffic and surrounding environment... More

Perfect, romantic and lovely boat trip through the heart of Paris over looked by a lit Eiffel Tower. Was so pleasant, specifically booked this with a meal up the Eiffel Tower and both were amazing. A little more information after booking is needed though

Staying in Les Halles

Neighborhood Profile
Les Halles
Historically the central iron-clad market of Paris, Les Halles has evolved architecturally since then but the pulsating energy has stayed the same. Now it houses the main shopping mall, which nestles underground surrounded by fast-food take-aways and international restaurants coupled with beautiful churches and the old commodity exchange. Parallel to it are the high-street stores of Rue de Rivoli and just parallel to that the Seine. The area bustles with faces from all continents and all ages at all times of the day. If enjoying high-street shopping with easy access to fast eateries and lively bars is on your agenda, this is the place to go.
