Excellent ice cream. We tried the chocolate, mango and my personal favorite - salted caramel. I also noticed that their ice cream is sold in several restaurants around Paris so if your hotel is far from the Ile St. Louis you may still be able to savor it. It was quite cold that day, I can only imagine how much... More

The ice cream quality is topnotch. Full flavor, not to sweet, just perfect. Fraise des bois, poire, vanilla are my favorite. This is a must stop when we visit Paris and the benchmark for ice creams around the world. There is often a long line but it moves fast. You can also buy their ice creams in nearby cafe but... More

I don't know if I would have found this on my own, and that would have been a shame. I've never visited the Ile St.-Louis but I am glad my friend told me to go. The shoppes are great, and this creme glacee shop is the best. The ice cream dishes are made first-class and the glacee is high-end. This... More

After a long day walking the streets of Paris, my wife and I decided we might stop into the Berthillon Tea Room to get a cup of their take on the hot chocolate. The time was 7:27 pm ... I know because as we walked up I was happy to read that they are open until 20:00 (been practicing my... More

This ice cream is magical... It is the BEST I've ever had and stopping by here is a must anytime I visit Paris. Just walking around the charming area to get there is a treat too.

The most delicious ice creams and sorbets in all of Paris. Sometimes you have to queue up because of the crowds but the wait is worthy it. Excellent and it is located in the charming Ile Saint-Louis in the middle of the Seine

If you enjoy ice cream & tradition, then this is a must try if you are close by. We love ice cream, especially the Italian gelatos, but this was a great treat after touring one afternoon. I felt it was a little expensive for the small cones but wanted to know what the hoopla was all about. Would do again... More

This is a famous ice cream shop on i'lle St. Louis, close to Notre Dame. Their ice cream are among the best I had ever tasted. I especially love the chestnut rum and grapefruit flavors. A stop at Berthillon for ice cream is a must for my family every time in Paris.

Staying in Ile de la Cite / Ile Saint-Louis

Neighborhood Profile
Ile de la Cite / Ile Saint-Louis
Two islands sit in the middle of the Seine at the very heart of Paris. The more majestic one, Ile de la Cité, sparkles with history. This is the birthplace of Paris, the home of the Gothic Sainte-Chapelle, and the site of the prison where Marie Antoinette was held before her execution. Tourists flock to see the iconic Notre Dame and the beautiful bridges that straddle the Seine. Ile Saint-Louis, the more provincial island, welcomes you with cozy traditional eateries, small boutiques, and what some people say is the best ice cream in the city. This is essential Paris from its very beginnings to its modern appeal.
