After a warm day exploring Notre Dam and the Islands of the city of lights, there is nothing more wonderful that standing in line for a glace (ice-cream) from the Maison Bertillon. It is the oldest ice-cream in Paris, and the best according to all of the locals---and me! Try the strawberry, I loved the creamy deliciousness of the fruity... More

The famous Parisian ice-cream parlor on the island l'Ile St. Louis is worth several visits if you like the natural flavored ice cream and sorbets. The tastes are authentic and correspond to those of my childhood!

We visited this place late October 2015 (I'm not sure someone mentions it being shut - it was definitely open when we went!) and it was wonderful. A large selection of ice cream flavours available and all the flavours that my partner and I had were delicious. The ice cream balls are quite small so about 3 is a good... More

This ice-cream is so worth trying. It is smooth with creamy texture and rich in flavour. I picked a coffee flavour and my husband chose a strawberry flavour. Both tasted yummy! Do expect a long queue though. 4 Euro per scoop.

It is closed until November. We walked all the way there and there was a sign on the door. No explanation. We ended up having ice cream from another shop on the same street but really wanted to try Berthillon.

Whenever I'm an Paris I go out of my way to pass Berthillion for a taste of their famous ice cream. The hype is real - it's the best ice cream in the world. Yes, sometimes the lines are quite long, but there is a reason for those crazy lines - it's that good! The flavors "pop"! The list is... More

This places serves the best ice cream in the whole of Paris. They have a few stories dotted about the city but this is by far my favourite. Don't expect huge portions. But it is large enough to satisfy any sweet tooth, except mine! I enjoyed the peach flavour then had to have a go at the white chocolate which... More

Very high quality ice cream in a variety of flavors at a pretty reasonable price. Note that you will not be getting "American-sized" portions here, but what you get will be some of the best ice cream you have ever tasted.

True, you can get Berthillon ice cream all over Paris, but why not get it here, and indulge while walking around the Île Saint-Louis? I was lucky to be here during a slow period, with just another couple ordering, so I could take my time. Very friendly service, and the peach flavor is absolutely incredible!

I tried Berthillon ice cream on a tour the night before but it was not at this place, the actual shop. They have a larger range than the other shops that just sell the Berthillon ice cream as a product so make sure you come here to the real place. The staff are good at handling the large volume of... Staying in Ile de la Cite / Ile Saint-Louis

Neighborhood Profile
Ile de la Cite / Ile Saint-Louis
Two islands sit in the middle of the Seine at the very heart of Paris. The more majestic one, Ile de la Cité, sparkles with history. This is the birthplace of Paris, the home of the Gothic Sainte-Chapelle, and the site of the prison where Marie Antoinette was held before her execution. Tourists flock to see the iconic Notre Dame and the beautiful bridges that straddle the Seine. Ile Saint-Louis, the more provincial island, welcomes you with cozy traditional eateries, small boutiques, and what some people say is the best ice cream in the city. This is essential Paris from its very beginnings to its modern appeal.
