Galeries Lafayette is a wonderful place to shop plenty of designer products. However, the service provided could have been better. Go early to shop as the queue for some brands builds up really fast.

A truly vast and beautiful series of buildings with every imaginable item to buy. Across the street there is another mall with household items and a food mall with @10 different restaurant stands with various ethic food , Greek Spanish Oriental, Pierre Hermes Macaroons, butcher, fish market. Just everything you can imagine.

This is an incredible place to shop. There is so much attention to detail and creativity in the displays. Visiting around Christmas is really something to see! The store is well organised and has many high quality brand. Also great views over Paris from the rooftop.

If you were to walk around Galeries Lafayette aimlessly window shopping, I'm sure you could lose an entire day. The building is astounding and the amount of brands on offer is just as astonishing. There's a lot for everyone here - everything from your high-end designers to more urban brands like Carhartt, Herschel, Nixon etc. Don't expect any huge bargains... More

A lovely shop until I went upstairs and walked into the middle. I looked up and it took my breath away. It was so unexpected and absolutely awesome. We wondered up to the very top and looked out across the city. Again totally unexpected and utterly awesome.

Despite being my third trip to Paris, this was my first visit to the Galeries Lafayette. I had heard the inside was beautiful at Christmas, which was why we visited. The main hall of the building was stunning. The christmas tree and floor to ceiling lights were jaw-dropping. I couldn't stop snapping photos - one from each and every angle.... More

It's like the inside of a really really beautiful and really really busy snow globe on speed. Huge and overwhelming and wanky but very pretty to look at. Pop in, take a look, then get back out and remember to breathe.

It's a stunning department store selling high end designer clothing, accessories, jewellery and perfume. It's a super place to go people watching and observing the frenzied activities of tourists from all over the world determined to part with their Euros on the latest "It" bag.

Despite travelling to Paris on numerous occasions we'd never visited Galeries Lafayette and had no idea it was going to be so huge and overwhelming. An absolutely stunning interior it was difficult to know whether to gape in awe the magnificent domed roof or look at the expensive perfumes and cosmetics for sale on the ground floor. I wished we'd... More

The Galleries look like any girls dream place to shop. The place has so many choices and looks so festive. But beware, if you are a shopper looking for reasonably priced products then this place is only good for window shopping.

Staying in Opera / Bourse

Neighborhood Profile
Opera / Bourse
The neighborhood around Opéra and Bourse is a belle époque paradise of grand boulevards, refined arcades, and mass-market art-nouveau entertainment. Here, modern day workers continue to take advantage of the legacy that nobility and finance left in the 19th century. Brightly-lit brasseries, theaters, and cinemas sit side by side with French bistros predominating in one area and Japanese restaurants in another. The area is most famous for the Palais Garnier opera house and glamorous department stores.
