It's a high end shopping mall with all the luxury brands housed under 1 roof. Certain brands have long queues. But do take note that some brands also have their boutiques on other floors where the queues are shorter than the ones on the ground floor. To avoid queues at all, it might be worth checking out their boutiques at... More

The center of the store is terrific (you can see from my photos), but this store could be one of many. I was sorry to see that there are little boutiques of 'designers' or department stores that you can find anywhere. It's not any different than any other shopping 'mall and most of the items are totally out of our... More

They have their Christmas decorations up and the store windows and middle of the store is beautiful . It is well worth your time to check it out and then go over to the Opera

You MUST visit Galeries Lafayette when in Paris. Not just for the wonderful shopping, or the food.....it is just a treat to the senses. Visually, it is unbelievably beautiful!!! It smells wonderfully with all of the perfumes mingling in the air! I had to buy Chanel perfume......when in France!......and also some Bulgari perfume in a gorgeous deep purple bottle that... More

It's definitely a great central place for brand name shopping. But there was an overwhelmingly amount of tour groups there and long lineups outside certain brand names that we didn't want to stay there anymore. Ended up walking over to Printemps which was slightly less crowded and more manageable.

it's a big shopping center, so it's probably a good place to shop, but there nothing special about it.

Lovely place to shop, bring lots of money. However if you go up to the roof terrace (no cafe) you can wander or sit (all day if you like) and take in the view of Paris all for free!

Even if you never intend to buy anything at this amazing department store you must go and see the beautiful dome and look at the way that items are displayed. It is fantastic. By far the most beautiful department store in the world. Whatever any other country says!

Galleries Lafayette are three buildings: one for shopping for women, one for men and the third for food and home items. We were not looking for fine dining places, just simple but tasty meals and wide selection. We found that in these buildings particularly the third. Whether self service style with interesting choices for dine in or shopping for take... More

Staying in Opera / Bourse

Neighborhood Profile
Opera / Bourse
The neighborhood around Opéra and Bourse is a belle époque paradise of grand boulevards, refined arcades, and mass-market art-nouveau entertainment. Here, modern day workers continue to take advantage of the legacy that nobility and finance left in the 19th century. Brightly-lit brasseries, theaters, and cinemas sit side by side with French bistros predominating in one area and Japanese restaurants in another. The area is most famous for the Palais Garnier opera house and glamorous department stores.
