It is a beautiful store with awesome decor! The merchandise was top notch. We visited the 7th floor dim sum restaurant which was delicious, though a bit pricey. Next we went on the rooftop for a breathtaking view of Paris(for free!). Next, we sat at the balcony at Starbucks overlooking the store with its beautiful architecture. Even if you don't... More

Sale time at the moment so can be a little bit hectic. Beautiful building, housing multiple bonds and labels. Had lunch in the restaurant on level 6 which was also very crowded and food was ok. Great views from level 7 roof.

Shopping is incomplete without a visit to Galeries Lafayette. Awesome building and very large collection. It is a good shopping experience. The best part is interest and courtesy shown by the staff. A must visit.

Overcrowded, expensive top floor restaurant. Soulless atmosphere. We thought it was going to be a special opportunity to enjoy some pleasant and interesting food, but were seriously disappointed. They even suggest you clear your own table!!

Visited the Galeries Lafayette near Opera in Paris recently. The place is huge housing multiple floors, all housing designer names across perfumes, clothing, shoes, leather ware and what not. The gallery is located at reasonable walking distance from tourist places like the Vendome and Concorde, its well connected through the subway train system as well. One could find enthusiastic visitors... More

When it is absolutely dismal outdoors, whether rain or extreme heat, keep this location on your radar. Make sure you go to the original or old building as there is another entry which may confuse you. The mall itself contains everything you would expect from a department store, what makes this one unique is the stained glass dome and interior... More

GL is actually not one store but a series of stores catering to men women kids and even homewares(?). Not only do you get a wide range of goods instore GL is right next to Printemps, another slightly lower market department store. In addition the two stores are on Paris' version of the London High St, so all of the... More

You've got to see this amazing department store's interior dome. Beautiful. It's located on Boulevard Haussmann in the 9th arrondissement of Paris. Amazingly preserved stained glass and iron dome on the inside. Look!

My husband and I really enjoyed our afternoon shopping here, which is a major accomplishment because my husband rarely likes to shop! We had promised our teenage daughter some French clothes and this was the perfect place to pick those up plus a few other gifts for friends back home. I have NEVER seen an entire (BIG) floor dedicated to... More

Staying in Opera / Bourse

Neighborhood Profile
Opera / Bourse
The neighborhood around Opéra and Bourse is a belle époque paradise of grand boulevards, refined arcades, and mass-market art-nouveau entertainment. Here, modern day workers continue to take advantage of the legacy that nobility and finance left in the 19th century. Brightly-lit brasseries, theaters, and cinemas sit side by side with French bistros predominating in one area and Japanese restaurants in another. The area is most famous for the Palais Garnier opera house and glamorous department stores.
