We visited here on a weekday just after lunchtime and stood in a huge line which actually moved along quite well. The strange smell of urine (or some shrub that gives off a similar smell perhaps, but I doubt it) permeated the air in the heat which was not pleasant. The Cathedral was nice but not nearly as impressive as... more

Last summer I spent a week in Paris. Notre Dame Cathedral was by far my favorite tourist destination. You must go to the top!!! I cannot stress this enough...pay the few euros, walk the steps, but see the top. (So if you are facing the front the line forms on the left hand side.) We waited in line for about... more

Be sure to walk West from the front of the cathedral to find the underground Crypt. Amazing ruins found when the square was excavated. Great movie on the history of Paris as well. The climb to the top is a work out. Be sure to take your time if you are older. Well worth the unmatched views. Sunday afternoons there... more

This Cathedral is one of the most beautiful buildings ever made by man. We went back several times and even attended mass on Easter Sunday in Gregorian Chant! The organ is so powerful it vibrates your chest. more

My Mom and I climbed Notre Dame - wonderful views, much better than the Eiffel Tower - don't let the 400 steps intimidate you, it's not that bad but if you have health problems you may want to skip it as there isn't a quick way back down. The line up to climb Notre Dame is on the Northeast side... more

This has to be on your must see list in Paris. The whole experience is wonderful. Make sure to go early to beat the crowds. Then explore the islands. Can be very crowded. Beautiful outside and in. Make sure to let your eyes adjust once you go it. It's dark in there! We were actually there when it rained and... more

that is all i have to say. seriously. except that it was way too crowded, like many other places in paris. paris is teeming with tourists, of which i am one of, so who i am to complain, right? yet still, it made me consider conversion. more

the highlight of our paris trip (for me) was a high mass at 10 am on sunday that was sung partly in french and partly in Latin. The Gloria in Latin in the Notre Dame cathedral was something else! more

We came here early one morning and really enjoyed exploring the cathedral, we bought a small guide book from the kiosk, only €2- and that was a fab place to start. We really enjoyed the visit. The cathedral is beautiful with a rich history and it is definitely somewhere I'd visit again. Tours involve lots of queues but if your... more
