The way up can be a little breathtaking (literally), climbing up those hundreds of steps, but once you get up there it totally make up for it. The view is truly beautiful, and the construction itself is quite impressive. Worth your time!

My first stop in Paris . Some great architecture, very big and famous from the Hunchback of Notre Dame. Spent about an hour here.

Magnificent old church. History plus. Get there early to avoid queues and be quiet when walking around.

Amust visit for the tourist . For an Indian unless you know your history, The Joan of Arc would have little meaning visiting the place . But whatever your ethnicity , the glass painting in the cathedral are worth your time and effort . !!! There is no entry fee , but the lines start by 10 am . It... More

There was a long line up outside the cathedral but it moved very, very fast. We got in within 20 minutes of arriving. Inside was beautiful. The history was evident, detailed and respected. The boutique was very understated and tasteful. A must see if in Paris. Remember that it is still a place of worship.

This trip was well worth the wait and go up to the tower the views are spectacular. Have a few euros in your pocket and enjoy the street performers while you wait on line, the pilot is hilarious, had me laughing for an hour, he deserves every penny he makes. Pablo

Cathedral is beautiful from inside and outside. I don't recommend going up to the tower - long lines, can't get good pictures, the "observation deck" is very narrow .

Basically the very most famous church in Paris, so no matter how long your stay or how busy your schedule, definitely go there and have a look. The ring of bells almost brought me back to the time of Les Misérables.

Staying in Ile de la Cite / Ile Saint-Louis

Neighborhood Profile
Ile de la Cite / Ile Saint-Louis
Two islands sit in the middle of the Seine at the very heart of Paris. The more majestic one, Ile de la Cité, sparkles with history. This is the birthplace of Paris, the home of the Gothic Sainte-Chapelle, and the site of the prison where Marie Antoinette was held before her execution. Tourists flock to see the iconic Notre Dame and the beautiful bridges that straddle the Seine. Ile Saint-Louis, the more provincial island, welcomes you with cozy traditional eateries, small boutiques, and what some people say is the best ice cream in the city. This is essential Paris from its very beginnings to its modern appeal.
