Get there early enough, there is a long line to enter the Cathedral. Just in front of it they put stairs, so you can sit down and take photographs and or look as long as you wish.

It was very crowded when we visited the church. A long queue was waiting to go to the towers. Personally I find the cathedral more interesting from the outside. Great views from a riverboat.

I couldn't help keep looking up in wonder, but that is the thing.mthere is so much simple beauty in this great Cathedral. I have been to many, in Italy, in England, in Spain, all wonderful, but this one took my breathe away!

Not the most spectacular or magnificent church of Paris but if you are in Paris you can give it a visit. Go in the evening as you can also enjoy the views of/from the river Seine. Also the entry is free so it won't bother you. No need to pay for going to the top of the tower. The price... More

Exquisite cathedral both inside and out. The example of French Gothic Architecture is something to marvel about. Hard to believe that this cathedral was built in the 1100's. Quite an engineering marvel. You don't even have to be Catholic to appreciate this cathedral.

It's busy and crowded, but it's beautiful with amazing rose windows north and south, and the views from the top with the gargoyles are spectacular. The Paris Museum Pass doesn't put you further ahead in line but does save you money.

Ge here early and try to coincide with a time when the choir are singing. We took time to sit in the pews and soak up the atmosphere

Everyone will always have their own idea as to what to expect when they visit Notre Dame, however it is certainly well worth the look. It is a truly magnificent cathedral with it's stunning glass windows and beautiful architecture. While there was a large queue on arrival, it moved extremely fast and we were inside within 15minutes of arriving, and... More

queues form quite frequently but also disappear rather quickly. beautiful stained glass on the inside. otherwise, the inside is not as impressive as the facade. unfortunately many do not respect the cathedral as a place of worship and often use flash while taking photographs or speak loudly.

Staying in Ile de la Cite / Ile Saint-Louis

Neighborhood Profile
Ile de la Cite / Ile Saint-Louis
Two islands sit in the middle of the Seine at the very heart of Paris. The more majestic one, Ile de la Cité, sparkles with history. This is the birthplace of Paris, the home of the Gothic Sainte-Chapelle, and the site of the prison where Marie Antoinette was held before her execution. Tourists flock to see the iconic Notre Dame and the beautiful bridges that straddle the Seine. Ile Saint-Louis, the more provincial island, welcomes you with cozy traditional eateries, small boutiques, and what some people say is the best ice cream in the city. This is essential Paris from its very beginnings to its modern appeal.
