Long line moves well and inside it is kept quiet appropriate for the type of place it is. Gift shop kinda spoils the ambiance but that's capitalism for ya.

REally beautiful, you have to see it. Learn a bit about the history. I did a actually attend a mass there, which was done partially in English. I would not repeat the service part of it. But I would go back and do a guided tour to learn more about that fascinating place.

If I had to choose between the Eiffel Tower and Notre Dame I would go to the cathedral with no hesitation - one of the most spiritually uplifting places on the planet.. Go early on a weekday and you can usually walk right in. If you wait until after a leisurely breakfast you can expect to be in a line... More

Soo much detail in one building. Got a chance to go inside and see all the stain glass and candles. It was a great experience.

We visited early on Sunday morning around 9:30. The area was not crowded at all. The shops around the area were not even open yet, but the girls who try to get you to sign the petitions were everywhere, just ignore them. There was not a line to enter the Cathedral, but there was already a long line for the... More

Amazing to see. Had a brilliant day. Gets very busy as it is one of the main attractions, but well worth it. Side stalls are great when you walk on.

Staying in Ile de la Cite / Ile Saint-Louis

Neighborhood Profile
Ile de la Cite / Ile Saint-Louis
Two islands sit in the middle of the Seine at the very heart of Paris. The more majestic one, Ile de la Cité, sparkles with history. This is the birthplace of Paris, the home of the Gothic Sainte-Chapelle, and the site of the prison where Marie Antoinette was held before her execution. Tourists flock to see the iconic Notre Dame and the beautiful bridges that straddle the Seine. Ile Saint-Louis, the more provincial island, welcomes you with cozy traditional eateries, small boutiques, and what some people say is the best ice cream in the city. This is essential Paris from its very beginnings to its modern appeal.
