That's one of the most impressive monuments in all world. No doubt about it. I went up on a friday evening, at dinner time to avoid long queues, and to see the night view with the tower sparkling (5 minutes every hour). I would suggest that you start early the day you plan to visit the tower. The lines are long and you end up spending almont half the day just doing the tower. we wanted to have a good sunset view of paris from eiffel, when we reached there at 8 plus, the place was all crowded. the queue for the lifts was so long, in the end we decided to queue for the climb to first level. it was great exercise, having climbed up notre dame just hours earlier, but had not... more

My hotel was next to the Eiffel Tower...I went there lots over my week in Paris. Opinions of the Ground: You don't have to go to the top but you should at least pay a visit to the bottom. if you want to do something beautiful, and frugal, I have a suggestion. Park yourself at the parc de champ de mars, which is just in front of the tower. bring along a nice picnic, and eat and relax , and rest up those tired feet as you people watch. The view from the Eiffel tower is not that great. We weren't going to go up, we just wanted to see the tower at night but decided last minute to try and catch the sunset from the top. It's a long line up, they push you into the elevators like cattle and then you have to line up again if... more

The thing follows you around the city the whole time you are there. It's on every porstcard and for good reason. We have more photos of the tower from more places in the city then of anything else. We stayed in Paris for a week recently and top of our list of places to visit was, of course, the Eiffel Tower. We expected long queues and expensive tickets so we were not disappointed on this score. Anyway, at about 10:30 we arrived and started queuing.
