While in the Loire Valley this is a must see attraction. The chateau is gigantic. The unique mixture of architectural styles is visually stunning. The grounds and interior of the chateau are not as well preserved as other chateaus in the valley (e.g. Chenonceau) but it is definitely worth a few hours visit. If you are traveling with an infant... More

We loved the Chateau, and the village beside. We were lucky enough to be there May 1st and there was a large antique and flea market set up on the grounds. Add to that a beautiful, sunny day and it could not have been a nicer stop. More

Chateau de Chambord was very good and because we were between 18 and 25 we got in for free which was really good, The castle itself was really good the massive paintings and architecture were very impressive!. The highlight was the staircase in the middle of the building, 2 staircases wrapped around each other, it was really cool!. I would... More

It's hard to imagine the wealth that created structures such as these. While Chambord doesn't have the lavishly appointed interiors of Cherveny or Chenonceau, it's size and architecture are sights to behold. More

French speakers only unfortunately, but what a great visit !! After all the castles in the Loire Valley, furnished rooms are no longer a must be seen. Book the guided tour "visite insolite" and the guide will take you into part of the castle that are not open to public visit, and will tell you the stories behind every stone.... More

Chambord was a disappointment for me. Although it is very beautiful in French Renaissance style, the interior was disappointing when I visited. There is the beautiful (supposed) Da Vinci staircase, and views of the castle make for some great photographs, I probably won't ever go again. It's one of those places you see, you're satisfied with having seen, and then... More

From tours you can grab a tour bus that will take you to both Chambord and Cheverny on the same day. Chambord is awesome, it is so large it's hard to imagine a time when Louis was king from here and the castle was filled. 300+ rooms and only 81 are open to the public. If you really take the... More

We backtracked to visit Chambord and regretted our decision. It is very imposing from the outside...huge and magnificent but the inside was a cavern of emptiness. Very few of the rooms were furnished and we wandered the cold interior longing for more of what its historic past might have been like. It's no wonder that the French commoners rebelled against... We went out of our way to visit Chambord as we were advised this one was 'unmissable.' From the outside this castle is vissually spectacular. It is undeniably impressive from its sheer magnitude and grandeur. However, the inside was very bare and uninspiring. Many of the rooms were scarcely furnished-it was simply too large. The highlight of the visit for... More
