Owner description: The Royal Château of Blois is your gateway into the Val de LoireThe Royal Château of Blois is the first important place to discover as you come from Paris. It is a true synthesis of the art and history of the Loire Valley châteaux, and makes it an ideal introduction for your visit. The rich architecture of the four different wings echoes the diversity of styles of the many châteaux built in the Loire Valley from the Middle Ages to the 17th Century.

The chateau has four wings from different times. It is very interesting to walk through. The furnishings, wall coverings and flooring are exquisite. Everything is a sight to see.

I was not very impressed with this castle. Of course the staircase is breathtaking and view from the castle amazing. But I think this is where it ends. For me the castle was not furnished enough. Though I have to admit I did like the paintings.

Chateau de Blois is an absolute not to miss if you are in the vicinity. Highly recommend a visit to Blois to anyone who is keenly interested in architecture and architectural evolution. and of course, the history which is so closely linked to what the facade and the wings have gone through. The four wings correspond from the Gothic-Medieval hall... More

This is a wonderful chateau located right in the middle of Blois. We parked our bicycles out the front and spent the next few hours spell bound by the tapestries, wall stencils, colours, furniture, ceramics and stories of the kings and queens who had lived there. There was a fabulous renaissance gardens exhibition on which we could have spent a... More

The Chateau at Blois mixes architectural styles as it was constructed over time. It sits atop a hill within a nice city to visit as well. We were not able to make the evening festivities (Son & Lumiere), but they came highly recommended. The interior has a good selection of paintings and objects of art, chests & dressers, linens and... Set as it is in the town centre you should not miss this it is nicely preserved and set out. You can self guide and we would recommend you do as the English Audio guide was delivered as a staged re-enactment of the things that were happening at the time. It gave nothing about the content of the rooms. We... More

We have visited eleven chateaux during our two weeks trip and this one is beautiful but not one of my favorites. You can easily notice that it was recently restored and it was really interesting to have a close look at the architectural details on display in several rooms of the Chateau. Nice courtyard and beautiful view at the Loire... More

We visited 4 chateaux during our stay in France and the one in Blois was the least impressive for me. Don´t get me wrong, it´s still a nice building with some interesting architectonic elements, just not so outstanding compared to e.g. Chenonceau or Chambord. I believe however it´s still worth a visit.

Some hints, first: when you enter Blois, follow the signs for Chateau Parking. It's underground, easy to find, and saves hunting for scarce parking. Follow the exit sign (sortie) for the Chateau, but visit the Tourist Info across the street first. You can buy a single entry ticket or many combinations for several chateaux (we bought a five chateau pass... More

The visit to this castle was not as we had expected. Since we have twins of 2,5 years, we carry them around in backpacks, so they can see everything and they don't break anything. Before we could obtain our ticket, we were told that there were no backpacks allowed (neither are wheelchairs (!), buggies or strollers). The reason we were... More
