The Royal Château of Blois is your gateway into the Val de LoireThe Royal Château of Blois is the first important place to discover as you come from Paris. It is a true synthesis of the art and history of the Loire Valley châteaux, and makes it an ideal introduction for your visit. The rich architecture of the four different wings echoes the diversity of styles of the many châteaux built in the Loire Valley from the Middle Ages to the 17th Century.

We visited many châteaux in this region of the Loire over a four day vacation and Blois would not stand out as a must-see. The château royal is really 4 different styles / periods of building set around a central courtyard overlooking the town and river. Historically it is interesting but as an attraction lacking the splendour of other places... More

Less celebrated than Chenonceaux or Chambord, this was my particular favourite. Packed with history, the displays are well thought out and informative with descriptions in English and French.

Blois is one of my favorite chateau in the Loire. It appeals to me on many levels. First, it appeals to my love of architecture since it represents four different architectural styles in one. Secondly, it is meticulously maintained. Thirdly, the tour is well marked in not only French, but English, with some wonderful interactive screens about the history of... More

Particularly liked the overview of Francois I, and what he achieved. The guides were helpful, and were particularly good with hound school children, did not interfere with others. Well designed layout and brochure. Sitting in the Royal Chair is also fun!

After my previous scathing review of our visit to the Chateau de Blois in May 2005, I felt it necessary to put the record straight after having a better experience on our second attempt. Then I forgot to submit it, so, better late than never... After circling around, having missed the entrance to the Chateau’s nearest car park, I was... More

We didn't tour the chateau, we only went to the nightly light and music show. But it was a fantastic history lesson and my three teenage sons enjoyed it immensely.

I visited with an hour left of opening time and was able to see most of the chateau. Cool exterior carved staircases, interesting and easy-to-read English info placards for the rooms and items on display. If you cut through the central courtyard and head for the viewing wall to your left, there are incredible views of the city and the... More

This chateau in the town of Blois is really beautiful and unusual as each of the wings was built in a different period and in different styles. The information in English was very thorough and there were signs in English and French throughout the castle. Some rooms were completely furnished, while others had the main pieces, set against fantastically detailed... More

This chateau is full of interesting exhibits, with plenty of information on its former royal inhabitants. Really interesting for the children in our party, as well as the adults.
