It is a true synthesis of the art and history of the Loire Valley châteaux, and makes it an ideal introduction for your visit. The rich architecture of the four different wings echoes the diversity of styles of the many châteaux built in the Loire Valley from the Middle Ages to the 17th Century. « less

The visit to this castle was not as we had expected. Since we have twins of 2,5 years, we carry them around in backpacks, so they can see everything and they don't break anything. Before we could obtain our ticket, we were told that there were no backpacks allowed (neither are wheelchairs (!), buggies or strollers). The reason we were... More

Quite expensive , but a must see. We paid € 10,-- for entrance and headphones, the first set we had didn't work well , and you only can test it when the show is on. So I missed a bit.

Very interesting show, all in French but you have the option of a paid for translation system. Was informed of this by the hotel so decided to give it a go. Costs around £10 per person

Plenty to see. Some intriguing stories from this chateau's turbulent and bloody history. A manageable morning's stroll. English notices and explanations are excellent.

Enjoyed a few hours wondering around and looking at this beautiful chateau. Didn't like the crowds but did enjoy the history. The commentary was a little long winded.

A beautifully restored (in the 19th C) Renaissance Chateau with authentic furnishings, wall-coverings and paintings. A lot of information on the building, the residents, the art, and the restoration made this the best of all the Chateaux of the Loire. The town of Blois is also lovely to wander around in, and to enjoy. It is right on the Loire... More

We didn't have a chance to visit inside, but watch it from the outside. Kooks really nice and a bit different from many castles. In the evening the lights from the balcony are really nice. And the town itself look super charming.

The castle is right in the city. Not as big as some other famous castles but interesting to have a look at. You get a very nice view of the Loire from the castle.

Fabulous buildings with excellent displays and informative signage. The audioguide is a bit on the slow side, but gives an excellent level of detail. The only drawback was the poor level of organisation in terms of queue management at the ticket office and every aspect of organisation at the associated Maison de Magie across the Place.

Overlooking the town of Blois, stands the Royal Chateau. Started in the 13th century by the Counts of Blois, this modestly sized chateau became a favorite location of many French kings, including Louis XII, Francis I, Henry III, and Louis XIII. The interior courtyard sports an external, spiral staircase (much the rage in its day), a statue of Francis II,... More
