It is a true synthesis of the art and history of the Loire Valley châteaux, and makes it an ideal introduction for your visit. The rich architecture of the four different wings echoes the diversity of styles of the many châteaux built in the Loire Valley from the Middle Ages to the 17th Century. « less

I was close to being "chateaux'd out" when I took the train from Tours to Blois. A short walk from the station, it's impressive outside and in, more of a castle than a chateau. Inside, the knowlegeable and friendly staff were great to talk to in Franglais and really made me feel welcome. National Trust take note! I left knowing... More

We had a pleasant visit at the chateau. Items and rooms are hit or miss in terms of preservation and presentation. There are models that show the evolution of the chateau over time; they were the highlight of the visit. The architecture is good to see, side-by-side; great for a young budding architect. There is a horse carriage ride around... More

Parked down by the river as in motorhome. No signposting for the chateau so had to get direction from a local. Given a very basic leaflet/map of the chateau. Unfortunately all the information about the chateau was in french only so no help to non french reading visitors. Even so quite impressive and worth a visit.

Quite impressive castle, but looks like only one wing (of the three) is dedicated to visitors. You can enter in the main hall of the second wing, but all the doors were locked afterwards. Rooms seem to be renovated and you can find many objects of the era. You even get to walk on the famous staircase. Explore the courtyard... More

This chateau has an interesting architectural history. The audio guide was too cutesy. This is the one chateau where we could have done without it. With the audio guide we spend over 2 hours.

This chateau is not as spectacular as chenonceau or chambord, but it did have a more 'hands on' feel as you have very good access to items within the chateau. We visited twice, once during the day, and then again for the son et lumiere. Now the son et lumiere was definitely something you should include in your visit to... More
