Great place to relax

There's a lot of walking to be done in Bordeaux, so it's a great place for people watching and relaxing in the warm French sunshine....

All of the Bordeaux site can be seen by bike using the excellent cycle lanes, or meandering through the calm centre. Plenty of maps and locations on line. We used our own bikes and parked car at the MacDonalds near the Base Sous Marines. A super day on two wheels. The Ecocitoyen office/shop on the waterfront by Pont de Pierre.

Gorgeous architecture that looks particularly beautiful at night. Opposite there are plenty of places to sit and have picnics along the river. A lovely place to spend some time relaxing.

Worth visiting after or even during rain. The Place is quite crowded on the weekends where a lot of skaters, bikers and runners fill the road along the canal.

This is probably the most stunning group of buildings in Bordeaux. Unfortunately when we were there neigh the fountain nor Miroir d'eau were operational, and the Miroir was being used for skateboarding. The Customs Museum is housed in one of the buildings, and for those who enjoy something a little unusual this is a beautifully arranged museum and has much... More

A beautiful building in perfect symmetry with it's surroundings situated, grandly, on the banks of the river Garonne. The modern pavement level fountain display adds to the experience; especially when producing a faint mist that drifts across the whole concourse. Bordeaux is a wonderfully majestic city perfect for a few days visit; and this probably represents the most iconic of... More

Place de la Bourse, originally known as the Place Royale, was built in the 17th century, as dedication to the glory of then King Louis XV (1729-1755). The city of Bordeaux at that time, was at the height of commercial boom. Located right on the banks of Garonne River, Place de la Bourse offers visitors the best of both views... More

Especially during this time of the year with a blue sky and a milder but still warm sun... the lights are amazing...

This was a highlight of my trip to Bordeaux. Early evening and it seemed everyone was out walking along the promenade. The pool was full of people all ages with their shoes off paddling in the water laughing talking and generally having a great time
