Unfortunatley I put my comments against the wrong museaum and should have put it on this website. The museum cost normally 6.50 for adults and nothing for the under 25's of age. For the disabled you only pay 4 euro and nothing for your carer. It is not very large but there are lifts for such as myself. The thing... More

This fully modernised and quite large museum gives a fascinating insight into Basque life and traditions. Not to be missed. We particularly loved the sections on pelota and the fandango dance (and regret not buying a poster of the the famous Ribera painting). Only downside is that the descriptions of each item are not in English - although you do... More

In an attractive and labyrinthine old house near the confluence of the Nive and the Adour, this is a major resource for anyone wishing to explore the history of this unique race, although more questions are raised than answered. For example, how did it's strange language, seemingly related to those of Tutkey, Finland and Hungary arise, and where on earth... More

We found this place very rewarding. We went thinking we would spend an hour there and came out nearly three hours later with a very good insight into Basque life and culture. Well worth a visit. Ask at the desk for the English language guide if your French is weak. Do stop and watch the films showing how the Basque... More

This was a very good museum for gaining some insight into the history and customs of the Basque people. There was also a history of the Basque ETA and the political resolution - I think this might have been a temporary exhibition.

Wonderful museum of the 4,500 year old history of the Basque people. It covers everything from ancient farming methods to the invention of pelota/pelote/jai alai & many things in between. The culture & history of the Basque people is alive & well & presented beautifully @ the Musee Basque. Very nominal entrance fee. Definitely worth a visit.

This was an exceptionally well organised and very interesting museum. There was a wealth of information about the Basques people, their history and cultural activities. The exhibits were varied, old films, photographs, paintings, memorabilia, artefacts and costumes. Well worth a visit and most informative.

I was really happy to visit this museum. I knew ahead of time that the exhibits were not in English and I had been told I could purchase an English guide to use. To my delight, the guide in English was provided free of charge! The exhibit is laid out well and easy to follow. There is an elevator if... More
