I was fascinated to learn the designer of the Statue of Liberty hailed from Colmar and we visited the square honoring him. What I did not expect was to find a replica of his work on display in the middle of a traffic circle on the way out of town. Funny place to put it. Maybe they wanted to limit... More

I'm not sure there is anything really here to see that warrants more than a drive-by. There is a parking area nearby, but the round-a-bout is heavily travelled. It's cute, you drive past it, check...

I have been lucky to see the 3 Statues of Liberty and they always surprise me. TH largest one in NY is incredibly powerful due to sheer size and location, besides symbolism and beauty. Nevertheless, I was surprised when I saw the one in Paris, because I did not have a clue. This 3rd one was even more surprising, because... More

It is very strange that the world's most famous statue, recognisable to anyone, was designed by a man from Colmar, yet this example is stuck in the middle of a roundabout a good 15 minutes by car out of Colmar. Why?? What's the point of that?! Whatever, I went to see this Statue of Liberty just for the novelty of... More

Out of town, in the suburbs, but pretty neat to see. We stayed at the Novotel right next to it, just by chance. Good place to stay, economical, GOOD breakfast, about 100 euros per night for a family of 4 in one room with breakfast included.

Good way to enter the city of Colmar and begin an exploration of not just Bartholdi's town but a fascinating example of old timbered architecture! Fun to see the Statue of Liberty in this funny place. In the middle of a roundabout on the northern edge of the city by the airport... wonder how they decided to put it there?... More

It is kind of shocking and at the same time reassuring to see something so familiar to us Americans as the Statue of Liberty in a circle in the middle of nowhere in the country. The statute is by the same sculptor and quite beautiful, but at a smaller scale.

Very easy to find. The real problem is that it is located in the middle of a very busy traffic circle. Be careful crossing the road. There is a bicycle path/sidewalk that you can use to go around the circle, cars will yield to you, though they're not happy about it. There is no walkway to the the statute. Watch... More

When you are going to visit the Village of Colmar, coming from the national road into town, you will not believe your eyes. Arriving on the roundabout on the entrance of the city, you think immediately am I dreaming or what? You have in front of you in the middle of the roundabout the “Statue of Liberty”, it is like... This does cause something of a double take when driving up to this mini version of the statue of liberty, you can see it from some way off, and is reasonably impressive. Just don't lose concentration, either of your speed or driving, I found this road to be notorious for the Police & their speed guns.
