Bartholdi, the artist who made the famous New York icon: "Statue of Liberty" was born in Colmar. Colmar's replica of the "Statue of Liberty" is 12 m' high and it was dedicated on July 4, 2004 to commemorate the 100th anniversary of Bartholdi's death. It is very difficult to see the statue since it's located on the busy traffic road... More

Visiting the alsace region in winter, we decided to visit Colmar. as we entered it was surprise to see lady liberty, its a nice replica of the real thing. However, to put it on a busy roundabout really doesn't seem the best idea for a tourist attraction, as we nearly saw 2 cars crashing into 1 another trying to take... More

Your in France and driving into Colmar and what's in the middle of the round about but our own Lady Liberty BUT much, much smaller. She was a gift of France and her designer is from Colmar so that explains why she's the first thing you see as you come into the city......could cause an accident thou...

Its just a small copy of the Statue of Liberty inside a traffic circle. Don't bother. The rest of Strasbourg is worthy of all your attention.

Wow... you cannot fail to miss the statue of liberty in France! I was amazed... it's so big... ! Standing proud in the centre of a round-a-bout close to Colmar we drove around it 3 times just to take it in. The statue of liberty in America was actually made in this region of France (true) so the local residents... More

This is a very large reporduction of the statue that stands in New York Harbor. The statue sits in a roundabout at the north end of the city as you are heading north to the wine route or Strasbourg. The cool thing about this statue is that it is not on the pedestal that the one in New York Harbor... More

We went for a day tour to Strasbourg and Colmar. Were travelling in a car and suddenly saw the Statue of Liberty in front. Surprised and enthralled to see it. The creator was from Colmar.

It's great to know that the designer of the statue was born in Colmar but this one is a small replica, planted in the center of a roundabout like many other decorations found on similar roundabouts all over France. This statue is far from the center of Colmar and all the actual nice things to see as a tourist, and... More

Nice to see a reminder of Frances gift to our country but in a much smaller stature. It is in a roundabout and quite a bit smaller.

Unfortunately I am yet to make NYC and see the real thing but I can now tick off both the smaller prototypes. I can think of a lot worse things to have in the middle of a busy roundabout on a major road
