Good way to enter the city of Colmar and begin an exploration of not just Bartholdi's town but a fascinating example of old timbered architecture! Fun to see the Statue of Liberty in this funny place. In the middle of a roundabout on the northern edge of the city by the airport... wonder how they decided to put it there?... More

It is kind of shocking and at the same time reassuring to see something so familiar to us Americans as the Statue of Liberty in a circle in the middle of nowhere in the country. The statute is by the same sculptor and quite beautiful, but at a smaller scale.

Very easy to find. The real problem is that it is located in the middle of a very busy traffic circle. Be careful crossing the road. There is a bicycle path/sidewalk that you can use to go around the circle, cars will yield to you, though they're not happy about it. There is no walkway to the the statute. Watch... More

When you are going to visit the Village of Colmar, coming from the national road into town, you will not believe your eyes. Arriving on the roundabout on the entrance of the city, you think immediately am I dreaming or what? You have in front of you in the middle of the roundabout the “Statue of Liberty”, it is like... This does cause something of a double take when driving up to this mini version of the statue of liberty, you can see it from some way off, and is reasonably impressive. Just don't lose concentration, either of your speed or driving, I found this road to be notorious for the Police & their speed guns.

A small Lady Liberty in the middle of a busy round-about off the highway...she's the real miniature deal (miniature but still very tall), but seems a bit out of place.

Kinda funny actually. On the way to a charming french town, our river cruise tour bus driver prepares us for whats ahead; an original model that was use to base the real Statue of Liberty. Very exciting, right. So we start to see it and then, there it is in the middle of a traffic circle. So our bus driver... More

The Statue itself is beautiful its a small version of the one in the US , I believe made in tribute to the crerator of the original who came from near here, but seriously the setting is aweful it is just a roundabout, could be a lovely attraction in a town square or majesticly stood on a bridge in the... Not what I would call a tourist attraction - more a round-about decoration. Still, if you haven't seen Lady L herself, and you've had a look at the museum, it's nice to cast a glance at it as you leave town.
