Peaceful Haven in City Centre

Nice place to wander and see how the Victorians did things. Easy pace of life down here and hard to believe you are in a major city. Well worth a look

I go here frequently for running / walking / drinking / eating. The Wharf is the best pub in Manchester - go there. It's also a great walk down the canal to Old Trafford and Salford Quays from here. Best time to visit is on a hot summer Friday evening and Saturday.

This place is perfect for a stroll down the canal. There are many bars and restaurants nearby but it is still very quiet. This is definitely something you should do in Manchester.

Plenty to keep you occupied whether it be a walk, canal boat ride, a bite to eat or just a drink in the sun, depending when you go!! You might even time if right for a market.

I enjoyed walking along the canals, over the bridges and took many photographs. It an interesting and well done mix of the urban and once industrial buildings.

Had my boat parked here for a while. Quiet and pretty place. Avoid the drunks at the weekend though.

Just yards away from the hustle and bustle of Manchester's metropolis we find the Castlefield basin. An area steeped in history where lovingly cared for canal barges saunter to their resting place. A nice pub stands at the centre of this area.

We had a walk round after going to the theatre - the whole place has a different atmosphere in a evening very vibrant. Great place to sit have a drink and people watch.
