Castlefield Urban Heritage Park is a jewel of the industrial Manchester. It is a great place for a walk, offering beautiful views of the canals with picturesque ships and typical brick buildings mirroring in the water. I fell in love with this part of Manchester the moment I saw it.

It is brilliant! Although it isn't in the city center it has incredible bars and restaurant where you can chill and chat with nice views!

This area is a nice channel to walk directly on the water. But if you walk further. You really find that it is not maintained really good. It is a channel inside of the city. The way on the right side is well maintained, but the lights some are working, others are not. It is a good walk, but not... More

This area reminds of the early industrialization era, with many canals and iron bridges. And in the middle of the industrial reminders, a reconstructed Roman gate. Very close to the science and industry museum, so good to visit both in one go.

Having dined at Albert's Shed resaurant in Castlefeilds the previous evening we returned the next day for a stroll around in the daylight and a very pleasant and relaxing area it is (on a mild autumnal morning). A fantastic mix of canals, wharfs, railways and historical sites together with bars and restaurants. It connects on the northern side to the... More

This was visited on two nights, once for a drink and the following night for food at the Wharf. Nice area and would go back again in the day when visiting the City on another occasion. Would be great to stroll along the canal in the spring or summer. Only downside is that it's not clearly signposyed how to get... More

An interesting place to visit. Nice to walk along the canal and the canalbarges. Interesting to visit the ruins of the roman fortress. Good information on the signposts. Well worth a visit on a sunny day.

This is one of many examples of hidden spots in Manchester with a combination of history, urban tranquility and some things to do. This area round the canals was one of the early development areas for apartments, but includes an early roman fort and some amazing railway architecture. Add some good local pubs (The wharf especially) in the basin you... More
