This Monastery is so lovely, the history behind it makes it even more special. There is a serenity that is hard to describe. The cafe offers tasty choices and the staff are very friendly. Very reasonably priced too. I had the pleasure of attending a wedding here and it was serene and wonderful. Such an outstanding venue. You can go... More

Very tranquil and peaceful place, fell asleep whilst looking at a picture there, one of the monks woke me up and offered me a prayer, I thanked him and felt blessed

10 years worth of fund raising from volunteers has turned this from a neglected wreck to an icon of standing - majestic, stunning- go and see this masterpiece of architecture- many events and read the story of its renovation. Plenty of parking, 5 minutes from city. Beautiful. I went to a concert and the accoustics are great- why does noone... More

For want of something to do on a Sunday we took the 10 minute journey from home to the Franciscan Monastery at Gorton. It's free to enter but we made a donation. Pam greeted us and took us through to the amazing knave were she gave us a comprehensive history of the monastery and it's restoration. It's so sad to... More

This Old Franciscan Church is SO worth a visit, whether you are visiting Manchester or like us, live here and have never made the time to call in. We met a very friendly lady ( from Horwich!) who started chatting and give us so much information,it brought the place alive! It's de-consecrated now and all types of functions can be... More

Looking for somewhere to visit on a wet day in Manchester, don't miss this one. It's free and worth an hour of your time to see a wonderful historic building that was almost lost. Nice little cafe too.
