Nearly finished. They are doing a wonderful restoration and improvement job on the station. Even now I would recommend a visit if it's your first time in Manchester. Pay particular attention to the ceilings both old and new

Victoria is now really 2 stations. One part is the new tram station and it is nearly excellent - clean and modern and airy. The refurbishment included the original main station building and offices etc and this has been well done . Now the other part - the railway part - platforms, footbridges etc. It can only be described as... More

That's what the roof looks like to me. Yes it's an improvement but a missed opportunity too. Restoration feels incomplete. The inside is a cavernous expanse of wasted spaces. The services are still minimal and tacky. Would it have been left so Spartan in London? I don't think so. Better than it was but still somewhere to get through as... More

This was the poor relation of the Manchester stations but a real effort has been made to provide some modern facilities.Glad to see that the beautiful ceiling in the buffet bar - now a pub -is still intact

So we have a new roof that looks extremely pretty and we are told it is future proof.Future proof is the word that all politicians particularly Manchester seem to be using at the moment to justify the work that they're doing sounds good but what does it mean? It doesn't rain in anymore but isn't it a pity that the... More

Victoria station has an interesting history, displayed on its outer walls by the destinations served by the old Lancashire & Yorkshire Railway. The tiled map above the L&Y's war memorial to staff lost in War World I is also of great interest. But until recently the station was in dreadful condition, falling to rack and ruin with no love devoted... More
