Since opening in 1995, the Arena (formerly The Manchester Evening News Arena) has hosted the biggest names in live entertainment including U2, The Rolling Stones, Madonna, Lady Gaga, Pavarotti and the record-breaking 2010/2011 residency by local comedian Peter Kay. In addition to live music, we've also staged some of the biggest events in the UK sporting calendar including several 2002 Commonwealth Games' events, the 2012 Olympic basketball warm-up match between team USA and GB, the 2008 FINA World Swimming Championships and international boxing bouts by Mike Tyson, David Haye, Joe Calzaghe and local champions Ricky Hatton and Amir Khan. We've also played a key part in Manchester's rich musical heritage with historic shows by local bands Take That, Oasis, Elbow, New Order, James, Happy Mondays, The Charlatans, Noel Gallagher's High Flying Birds, M People, Doves, The Inspiral Carpets, The Verve, Simply Red and The Courteeners. Attracting over one million visitors each year, the 21,000 capacity Arena is a former winner of the industry's prestigious International Venue of the Year award.

Saw Madness gig here. Been to the venue several times before so knew what it was like. Seats are a bit tatty and need replacing but wasn't sat down much anyway. Leaving the venue the staff were intent on making us leave through the worst possible exit for us.

We took some relatives to a concert and it was a great venue and well organised. The prices of food and drink were quite expensive as usual for these types of places, nearly £12 for two bags of crisps and two bags of chocolate! Plenty of places to park if you drive here.

Well organised and a great place to see a band live. Easy to get to by walking or using public transport.

Concert seating was good ... Plenty of leg room ... No problems with staff or venue access ... Food and merchandise very pricey!

I have been to the arena before to see Michael McIntyre comedy roadshow. This time round went to see Linkin park's (rock band) new album tour. The venue is at the heart of Manchester, easily accessible by train(Victoria station)and metro link (tram). It's walking distance from city centre. There is parking available near the arena as well. There's plenty of... More

My brother and I have been eagerly awaiting this concert- and we where not disappointed. The cod-head lad from Fleetwood does indeed give a spectacular performance. His singing was a1 and he also interacted with the crowd which also added even more to the show. With his cheeky smile , northern humour and his voice so strong and melodic, it... More

We took the metro link directly to Manchester Victoria train station and walked across the forecourt into the Manchester Phones for you arena. simple. The show started with 6 songs from new Samoan trio Sole mio who were excellent introducing themselves as a trio comprising two brothers and a cousin. All had operatic training and explained they get together for... More

We went to the Phones4u arena last night to see Alfie Boe and the night was completely ruined by the venue, from when we arrived to when we left, parking at £12 for 3 hours is ridicules, food and drink prices were extortionate, the Arena was cold and dirty throughout including toilets and how do they get away with not...
