Very hard to find from Piccadilly station

We visited Manchester for the first time in many years and everything has changed. Instead of walking aimlessly around we asked 2 people in authority where it was but neither wanted to tell us. I know that sounds stupid but it seemed that way. One said it was in Britannia hotel off Piccadilly Gardens but it wasn't, the other just... More

This very modern and well appointed building is easy to find and the staff were very helpful with details and local knowledge on where we wanted to go. They also chatted about their personal visits to these areas, if you need information on what is happening and how to get there, this is the place to go

Hard to find and uninspiring. Member of staff couldn't be bothered! Circled some libraries and churches very quickly on a map. No use to us with two teenagers and so fast even if it was we couldn't keep up with her. No attempt to find out what we were interested in. No attempt to encourage us to stay and spend... More

I know that the Visitor Centre is in the midst of a makeover but the experience of my wife and myself today was so disappointing. This is a city I have been wanting to visit for years. I expected to be able to get up to date information on tourist sights, public transport etc. But no, nothing was offered. How... More

Went in with my mother to ask which way it was to the museum, and made to feel like a nuissance by a sour faced old woman behind tbe desk. She whipped out a map and started manically circling different attractions, snapping when either of us asked a question. So utterly rude. That woman shouldn't be in a job anywhere... More

I looked up the address of the Visitors Centre before we left for Manchester, so we knew to look for Portland Street and Piccadilly Plaza. We expected a sign at Piccadilly station, a pretty common practice in most cities which attract a lot of tourists. There was no sign that we could see, so we left via the exit to... More

Not sure about some of the negative reviews here but maybe the staff have now changed? We wanted to find out about the free bus services that run in Manchester and wanted a map of the city. Both appear on one publication and the member of staff who we spoke to was polite and friendly. She gave us a map... More

Four of us - older women - visited Manchester for four days and this was our first port of call when we arrived in order to obtain bus info etc. Well, what a welcome to the city! The woman we dealt with was so snappy and brusque (as mentioned by a previous visitor), and admonished us with " wait a... More

If you want to find out about what is on in the whole Greater Manchester region, then this is the place to go, loads of leaflets on all the major attractions, and indeed minor attractions, the staff are always pleasant and approachable, very helpful even to someone like myself who lives and works in Greater Manchester, often asking with more...
