Ignore the terrible postwar architecture of the building itself: there's quite a gem inside. We arrived quite about 45 minutes before the museum's closure so only saw the 'museum' and not the 'gallery' but it was enjoyable. Lots of archaeology as well as local history, including a few pieces dedicated to Doncaster Rovers. Well worth going to, although I'd recommend... More

Shamefully we've not been here since our junior school trip....and what a treat we've been missing! Family day out with the grandkids and what a great place. Lots of local history and hands on things to do. Was shocked to find out that entry was Free! The kids thoroughly enjoyed themselves. If you've not been (since school) make the effort... More

We went to this museum primarily to see the K.O.Y.L.I museum, which was totally and utterly unbelievable, it is well worth a visit in its own right. Well set out and the story's that are told there bring a lymp to your throat. The rest of the museum is also very very interesting, the staff are very very helpful, knowledgeable... More

Doncaster residents should appreciate what a gem they have in their local museum. I have been going there since the 1960's. Not many towns have such a great resource. Experts are on hand to answer questions and they are working constantly to preserve and display items that the London museums would love to have. Just bring back the cafe!
