Found out about this attraction by accident, saw an ad in Yorkshire Post Newspaper for the garden centre and Free steam museum. Has restriceted opening times but well worth a visit if you are in the area. My Husband (surprisingly) loved it. He used to work in engineering and as soon as he walked through the door said just smell... More

I knew about the steam museum five years ago when I found myself cycling past it on an organised bike ride. It's taken me the ensuing five years to get all my ducks lined up and paid the place a visit. The museum operates its steam engines on Wednesdays and the first Sunday of the month plus bank holidays. Recently visited here and was very surprised at the size of the place. We visited on "steam up day". The staff were eager to chat and explain what was going on. There is no charge to get in but donations are welcome. If you are interested in this type of thing this is the place to go.

I think that considering... More

Today we went to the Garden centre which is co-sited with the museum, had a coffee in the shop then spent a couple of fascinating hours wandering around the museum which has more than 20 stationary steam engines dating from around 1875 to 1930, most of which are running in steam. The staff are knowledgeable and happy to chat. Admission... More

Amazing range of steam equipment with friendly staff - free to get in, but don't forget to leave a donation as this is what they need to survive
