Recently visited here and was very surprised at the size of the place. We visited on "steam up day". The staff were eager to chat and explain what was going on. There is no charge to get in but donations are welcome. If you are interested in this type of thing this is the place to go.

Today we went to the Garden centre which is co-sited with the museum, had a coffee in the shop then spent a couple of fascinating hours wandering around the museum which has more than 20 stationary steam engines dating from around 1875 to 1930, most of which are running in steam. The staff are knowledgeable and happy to chat. Admission... More

Amazing range of steam equipment with friendly staff - free to get in, but don't forget to leave a donation as this is what they need to survive

Unfortunately we took a wrong turn and had nice ride around the countryside before we finally found the Garden Centre, once there we were enthral led at the working steam engines all running and excellently maintained. We enjoyed a Sunday roast in the garden centre cafe which rounded off the trip. I do think that there could be some better... More
