The Priory was first founded by the Lord of Dudley, Gervase Paganell, in the 12th Century, and was closed by the infamous Henry VIII in the 1530's. The pools near The Priory were drained when Priory Hall was built in 1825. During the 1930’s, The Priory were restored to their current form, and the grounds became a park. « less

This is a beautiful park in the centre of Dudley with the ruins of a priory at one end. We spent a couple of hours playing hide and seek tag around the ruins and then went to the swings area.

Although not the most gracious park in the borough priory park has a touch of history and presence dating back hundreds of years. The old priory ruins once lived in by monks still stands erect gracefully in the sunlight, keeping a secret air of astoundment at what its achieved and seen through the ages, its stone structure is full of character and... Apart frm a small ruin (which is great for wedding photos) there is nothing on priory park to warrant travelling to make a visit. Not much more you can say really, couple of tennis courts and a small play area and some grass.

Not very big area to explore. Can be fitted in between other attractions. Not far from Dudley zoo and Black Country Living Museum. About 1-2 hours to explore the whole site. Well worth it for photographers. I've got some good photos ther

Have been to 2 weddings at the registrar's office in the park. The rooms where the ceremonies take place are tastefully decorated. The grounds & ruins are lovely.

The last twice we have taken our grandaughter to play on Priory Park She has been quite intimidated by the "big people" who were on there. There are 14 & 15 year olds on the slides and hanging around the other playthings and sitting on the steps of the park are always men drinking , with their dogs. This is the reason...
