Description: Priory Park in Dudley takes its name from the Old Priory of St James's...
Priory Park in Dudley takes its name from the Old Priory of St James's. The ruins are from the Cluniac Priory and are the picturesque feature in the grounds of the park. The Priory was first founded by the Lord of Dudley, Gervase Paganell, in the 12th Century, and was closed by the infamous Henry VIII in the 1530's. The pools near The Priory were drained when Priory Hall was built in 1825. During the 1930's, The Priory were restored to their current form, and the grounds became a park.

Lovely place to visit on a Sunday morning. Had walk around, play in the park area and smelt the roses in the gardens.

There are plenty of activities taking place on the beautiful park. There was a fun day taking place with Wolfie from the Wolverhampton Wanders Football Club amusing all the kids. There were some great refreshments in the pavilion at very reasonable prices and a lot of dog owners taking part in dog training. Worth a visit..

The priory is a quiet and peaceful place to visit. It's used by the local register office for wedding photos with its pleasant backdrop of the old ruins, it's also a great place to visit whilst walking the dog or maybe enjoying a picnic, definitely worth a visit

We stumbled across this place after reaching trip advisor to find a place to eat lunch. The ruins of a priory stand in beautifully kept parkland with main roads all round. Trees, flowers, open space. Great recreation place, peace and quiet. Very nice and unusual to see in the middle of roads and housing.

Recently returned to live in Dudley and took advantage of the wild and windy day to take a walk to Priory Park in the heart of Dudley. I was pleasantly surprised to see the renovations, new pathways and smart buildings, including the Pavilion and the shelter near the pond. So very lovely and made me feel good about being in...
