Priory Park in Dudley takes its name from the Old Priory of St James's. The ruins are from the Cluniac Priory and are the picturesque feature in the grounds of the park. The Priory was first founded by the Lord of Dudley, Gervase Paganell, in the 12th Century, and was closed by the infamous Henry VIII in the 1530's. The pools near The Priory were drained when Priory Hall was built in 1825. During the 1930's, The Priory were restored to their current form, and the grounds became a park.

Recently used the newly laid crown bowling green and was surprised how few other people did - needs to be used by more and more often. This will help to increase the value of the Park to the public. Full of history, architecture, nature and recreation - please visit!!!!!

What a great Christmas event at this park. They had a live orchestra and a school choir! The place was packed out and people came to listen in the pouring rain. Good on them..

A beautifully presented and maintained amenity, right on the edge of Dudley town centre. Always something new to admire and plenty of opportunities for those who want to relax, burn off some calories or engage with the community and learn some new and practical skills. I live a few miles away but call in as often as I am able... More

A pleasant enough place for a summer walk - and it is reasonably central if you happen to be in Dudley town.

I visit Priory Park all the time and have done for decades. The park has a great play area for children and sports facilities for adults. There are also fascinating ruins on the park which are really interesting. Detailed information is doted around the park telling you about the history of the site. The park is run by a great... Rubies, gold and emerald. The park is now changing into its autumn colour pallete. What a display! This weekend the Friends of Priory Park invited the community to take part in a fancy dress competition for Hallowen. The children came in large numbers wearing fantastic costumes. This was a great evening. Throughout half term the park ran events for us... More

A park that contains an ancient monument, is well kept and the flowers this year have been radiant. There are activities for children in the school holidays, and community events are regularly held there. It is a five minute walk from the Dudley town centre and well worth a visit.

Priory Park in Dudley is one of the best parks I have visited. Excellently kept gardens and shrubbery, great accessible facilities, and a renovated pavilion. One of the best kept secrets of the Borough!
