The trough covers a huge area of absolutely brilliant and scenic countryside. The drives are great, the villages delightful and the walks superb. Our only hope is that it doesn't get too popular and become spoilt.

This isn't a visitor attraction it is an area, it lacks a lot of facilities - we really had problems finding a petrol station. There are a couple of nice cafes and pubs but they should be rated on their own merit. Ok the scenery is nice but when you are desperate for a loo there are not that many... More

Beautiful area of natural beauty, with some bracing walks and fantastic views. Dotted with some excellent hotels and pubs and easily accessible from the M6.

This is a fantastic drive and we really enjoyed a day stopping and taking short walks here and there. We made it into a circular drive from the M6, which was really easy to plan with an OS Map. Wonderful views along the way

We had a lovely drive through this unspoilt wilderness. We did unfortunately encounter a lot of cyclists en-route as there was a race on. Rather them than me !

Cracking views over Morecambe Bay and the Yorkshire Dales. Very, very unspoilt, untouristy. Lots of footpaths, and plenty of all access areas.

Beautiful drive. With thoughtful viewing point. Beware no phone signal.. obviously. Well worth the detour.
