How refreshing that a museum should be free! Even if they were to charge a small fee am sure they wouldn't miss out on visitors. At present the downstairs rooms show an exhibit about WW1 which is really poignant as this was Lancaster's recruiting office for those wishing to sign up. If you are in the area it would be... More

Lovely hour spent in here and free admission too, really enjoyed it especially the WW1 part. It was great and (sad) to read about members of the Regiments and see there letters home to families

We visiited this musuem as we stopped in Lancaster for a couple of hours. It is not a large museum but very informative and the exhibitions are very good.It is mainly a militerary museum and very interesting. The staff were very welcoming and we were free to browse at our leisure and staff were on hand if needed for additional information.

This was our first port of call when we visited Lancaster and it was a perfect way to start. The museum is well laid out and uses excellent displays and exhibits to take, visitors of all ages, through the thousands of years of history that this area has. Entry is free but we were more than happy to make a... More

Free entry, varied displays and a great guide to the changes in Lancaster. There are guided tours if you like, or just wander freely. Make sure you have some change to put in the donations as entry is free.

This is a very good museum, not too big so you take hours to get round it but varied and interesting. From the stone age to the modern day and some interesting displays. 60 minutes is enough to see everything, more if there is something of particular interest, I am sure you could take a whole day if you wanted.

Great little museum in the centre of the city. Alan Sutherland, one of the gallery attendants, was very informative and our son was captivated. If you want to know more about Lancaster, I would recommend a visit (followed by coffee and cake at The Music Room).
