A really well presented museum packing in a lot of interesting local history into the space available. I particularly enjoyed the military museum.

Lancaster City Museum is situated in the city centre just a couple of minutes walk from Lancaster Castle, so, if you are in the area it's worth calling in for a walk around. The museum is only small, but is free to enter and has some interesting exhibits, including the King's Own Royal Regiment Museum.

Many excellent displays across a broad range of the history of Lancaster and its hinterland with plenty of information. Better still it is free and an hour or two well spent.

It was very informative, had a good variety of things to interest most people. You had a few steps to negotiate so not, I think, for disabled people but otherwise I recommend it.

The museum is very small, but it's full of interesting stuff. It walks you through the history of Lancaster from the Roman age to WW2. The design is pretty cool, with many mannequins enacting different activities of the times past. Definitely worth a quick visit

The current first floor exhibit was not to our taste as it was very much aimed at those with an exisiting knowledge of local folklore. As we did not have this knowledge it felt quite disjointed to us. Arriving on the second floor we were pleasantly suprised by the large amount of information given on a variety of subjects regarding... More

This is small museum, packed with interesting items from ancient to more modern times. I was particularly taken with the Roman artefacts - some exceptionally interesting stone carvings and statuary. The museum leads the visitor through the ages. There is quite a lot to rad, but it's accessible and interesting. There is also a military display. It's well worth a... More

Housed in the old Lancaster Town Hall, an elegant Georgian building built in the 1780's, this is an excellent museum telling the story of this great city. Housing many fascinating artefacts and also home to the superb Kings Own Regiment museum. Lancaster's a great city with many interesting buildings and places to visit and this is well worth calling in... More

I may be a little bias as I am from the area but I Love this museum. The ground floor changes its exhibits but the upper floor remains the same. Its got some great local history and is good for all ages. Please visit if you go to Lancaster its well worth an hour of your time.

Though this museum is only small, the building, the exhibitions and the interactive experience was fantastic. The staff were knowledgeable and the exhibit on the bog burial was fascinating. All-in-all, great for a quick visit!
