I love museums, my partner wanted to carry on but i dragged him in and was pleasantly surprised, the stair case itself is impressive and all the memorabilia was very good. I was interested in the casket found locally and would suggest people pop in you will be pleasantly surprised

Called to see when Christmas shopping. Really interesting Military museum upstairs with loads of stuff to see. Enjoyed the local history section, plenty of things to see donated by locals. Well worth a visit

After lunch today , I visited the Lancaster City Museum . As far as museums go , this one is quite small , however it is well worth a visit for an hour or so . I particularly liked the Regimental Museum , which is upstairs . It contains a treasure trove of items relating to military life in years... More

its a shame that the inside of the building doesn't live up to the outside. Architecturally the museum is very impressive but the layout needs looking at and the reception area is confusing and if I'm honest not very welcoming. No guidebook, no staff to really help. No toilets. If the council invested some time and money the city museum... More

Great old building but needs more investment and modernising. My gf wasn't happy that it doesn't have a loo. Not very clear what to do or see when you first walk in and there isn't a guidebook.

Lots to see here as the downstairs rooms regularly host visiting exhibitions while the permanent exhibitions are up stairs in this fine Georgian building. There's some very well realised displays that ilustrate local social history, and an impressive number of art works on show. Free entry - though donations welcome - this is a great place to spend an hour... More

Impressive building in centre of Lancaster - set in square that has regular markets days ( great one on Wednesday- day of our visit). Great value as no admission fee but any donations gratefully accepted. Currently running a World War One exhibition which is brilliant!!!

Myself and my partner wanted to visit with our 6 month old. Was really looking forward to it as I had heard and read such good things. On arriving we were told by a member of staff part of the museum was closed and only upstairs open. When I asked where the lift was, she looked at the pushchair like... More
