Placed right in the centre of Lancaster this small museum is very interesting. Good displays of military items and sets, plus some very lovely paintings. Worth a visit

Had time to kill on a Tuesday in the city, found it easily in the town centre, free to get in, not huge but big enough to do an hour or two, plenty of history and artefacts, things to do for kids as well, staff were very pleasant and helpful

Thank you for your review and I am sorry you were unable to find the answer to your research on this occasion. Our displays cover a wealth of Lancaster's history but it can be a challenge to cover everything in great detail. Staff are very knowledgeable and if the Museum is unable to answer your query we can usually suggest... More

free admission and loads to look at to pass an hour or so longer if you wanted - great on a rainy day or if you're after something to do

My partner and I had some time to kill while in Lancaster so we visited the museum, it was very interesting and informative on the history of Lancaster and surrounding areas.

Its a really interesting museum about the history of Lancaster from prehistoric times until the present. Also some beautiful paintings relating to Lancaster.

We visited this popular little museum as it was something to do on a rainy Saturday afternoon. Lots of other people had the same idea as it was very crowded! Lots of (almost too much) information, child-friendly maps, and interesting detail about the local area. There was also a model train although I'm still not sure why...

Thank you for your wonderful view. The model railway follows on from the success of one that we had during the 'War 1914!' exhibition. It has proved so popular again that plans are well underway for another one, this time with a strong Lancaster theme. More

I wouldn't go out of my way to visit, but if you have a couple of hours to spare, then I would recommend a visit. I don't think it's changed since I first visited 40 years ago as a child, but has some nice history of the area from the Roman times, and good exhibits which the kids enjoyed. If... More
