We ended up visiting this attraction from a street sign. Very quaint little museum with quite a few exhibits, especially a rare Roman helmet when we were going here. The staff we so attentive and helpful. Well worth a visit if in the area.

I visited Ribchester Roman Museum this morning. I was welcomed in by an enthusiastic polite young man who told directed me around the museum. I was looking forward to see the parade helmet and I was not disappointed! It is a must see and I am very glad I made the effort to visit.

The museum at £3 per adult is possibly a bit much considering it is very small and can be toured in five minutes. Of course, if you have an interest in the Romans in Britain, probably well worth it, but I agree with others that not a lot to keep children (or bored adults) entertained. Villa ruins by the church... More

It was ok, well kept and maintained, small museum with lots of artifacts and information but nothing really to keep the kids interested, unless they needed to do some research for school, younger children may get bored as nothing for them to play with, Take a walk around the village and look at the old roman ruins and the river.... Went to this museum as son learning about Romans once back at school. Small museum with lots of facts and objects to look at, the helmet was very interesting. Ruins of the Roman baths and granaries were nearby. Children enjoyed it there and loved trying to work out what the Roman bath ruins would have been like.

£3 for an adult and children over 5 are £1.50. We went with 2 children who were free which was a good job as there was nothing for them to look at. The museum has the potential to be really interesting but there was nothing to keep young children occupied whilst reading the information about artifacts. Some colouring or a... More

This was my first visit to the museum in 5 years or so, and, as ever, it was fantastic. It may be tiny but the atmosphere and setting - right by the River Ribble - is just right. The big draw for me today was the original Ribchester Parade Helmet on display, having come on loan from the British Museum.... More

Firstly the village of Ribchester is a beautiful historic old village , with the river Ribble and ancient St Wilfrid's church close by . About 0.25 miles on the edge of the village lies the hamlet of Stydd , with its ornate Almshouses and ancient chapel of St Saviour , with grave stones within dating to the 15th century .... More
