Having been to Akamba before and thoroughly enjoyed our food, we were very disappointed with the quality on our last visit. We took our grown up family to share our delight after our first visit but the menu was different this time (more English, less African), the place was still an adventure and we did warn them that we would... Oh dear, this is a shame- Akamba is a pale shadow of the place it used to be. Tired drooping plants at vastly inflated prices , a gift shop full of VERY expensive Kenyan art and trinkets (all covered in dust, no surprise there, I cant imagine they sell much at those prices). There are several food and drink outlets... More

This amazing Garden Centre is well hidden. It is a gem of a place to visit for anyone who loves plants, wildlife or Caribbean Food, or statues or as in my case all of them. You are greeted by spectacular metal wildlife statues from zebra, giraffes, monkeys, birds etc. dotted at the main entrance & around the garden centre as... More

Visited sat 20 June. It was a really busy Saturday night so we did wait a while for food. Food was ok I've eaten better but was enjoyable. The band was excellent, the bar staff friendly and female security staff member was extremely friendly and efficient in organising taxis. My only complaint was our dirty plates were left on the... I had heard so much about this place that I decided it was time to make an effort and go. I was looking for something exotic for my garden. Frankly it was a waste of time. If this was just down the road I would not mind the occasional visit, but I had heard such a lot about the place... More

This is certainly different - a real African experience in Solihull! The restaurant is well fitted out and the buffet is varied and reasonable (it could do with being changed occasionally though).

spent the evening here last Saturday with friends as we wanted to see the band play and it was an ideal opportunity for that. Booked the tickets on the phone with Stephen who I believe is the manager. He was there on the night celebrating his birthday with friends, great guy. This place is amazing and I would recommend anyone... More

This is a magical place near Dickens Heath. If you attend one of their special evenings you will not be disappointed.
