Having lived in Maidstone since 1997 it was the first time I have been here, the building is lovely (well the historic bit), the new part is just plain ugly on the outside, heyho, that's planners for you. Nonetheless, the exhibits are accessible, just so dated, the dinosaur part is actually really informative yet for something so significant in Maidstone's... More

We were wondering around Maidstone as we had time to spare and came across this Museum. It was free of charge for entry and was absolutely fantastic; I find sometimes these free events/shows can be a little disappointing from the point of view that generally if it’s free they haven’t got the money to buy the artefacts. However this had... More

If you are in Maidstone then you must not miss this wonderful little gem of a Museum. So many interesting exhibits that you can easily spend a good few hours in here. It is very child friendly and fantastic value as it is free admission. Nice little cafe inside as well. A must in the School holidays.

Hey! If you have never visited then I highly recommend you do so. From the facilities to the exhibits you will enjoy, something for all ages and interests. I have worked with medway council and english heritage and found the museum a refreshing place to spend the day. Well done Maidstone! Dave J.

take time to arrange a tour of the museum's secret collections in the hidden stores - it's unbelievable and we were even able to handle some of the amazing artefacts (wearing protective gloves)

This museum has recently had an extension added on the front in the form of a golden square. This is just a giftshop. Everything else is pretty much the same as it has always been for 20+ years. Lots of taxedurmy of common animals, and there is a pretty good dinosaur zone. Not the attraction it could be. The best... More

I've been visiting this museum since I was little and now bring the children. Dressing up area was well stocked for half term and the new microscope is fantastic! My husband complained, however, that your Maidstone United Football Club information needs updating and seeing as we now have a much needed and long-awaited for new ground, this is very important... What to do in half term when it's raining and not much money? Visit this place... You won't be disappointed! I went today with my 4year old & 11month old boys and my 72 year old nan. It's free to enter and there is so much to see! The staff at reception were so friendly and helpful, there is a... More

Well located and free are massive plus points to this museum. Easy to get around and there is a true variety of exhibits. Children from 7 to 10 will get a lot from it by way of its accessibility for sure but there were so many different periods, interests and items jumbled up that I could not really join up... More
