My family and I were looking for somewhere to stop en route between Surrey and Nottingham to break up the journey. I had already looked at several of the big family attractions en route and nearly choked over the entrance fees. We decided to stop here, not expecting much other than a pleasant lunch and to stretch our legs. We... More

I went with my boyfriend for my birthday (because I'm geeky that way.) I'd read the reviews and was completely intrigued. It was every bit as amazing as the reviews make out. It's not a huge museum, but that's not to say there's a lack of things to see, in fact, there is so much crammed into every space and... More

You may consider yourself geeky but we think you're great. Such a fantastic and full review and it all really helps to get the word out. Thank you so much for taking the time to tell everyone about us. We open for the season five days a week from April 1 so hopefully you'll have inspired others to come and... More

I know museums are meant to be interesting, but the variety of things to see makes this museum really interesting! From the interactive telephone museum (people of certain age may even remember the original mobile phone the size of a brick and powered by a car battery!) to the the transport museum and 'shops alley'. If you have an interest... More

Aha! A visitor after our own hearts, who can remember the first so-called 'mobile' phones. We're glad you enjoyed the galleries and the variety of what there is to see and do. And of course the cafe - a favourite with many of our visitors. We really appreciate you coming to see us and taking the time to write a... More

This museum is great. The many different areas are really well considered for children of all ages. It is hands-on in a truly interactive sense (rather than just pressing buttons to light up answers) and there is great variety to keep the children interested. We happily spent 2.5hrs going round and our 3yr old and 8yr old really enjoyed the... More

Recently took my 13 & 10 year old girls to the museum, and we had a great day out. The highlights for us were the telephone exchanges, where the girls got to be the operator, and the cakes in the coffee shop which were excellent, there were many different and interesting exhibits and the children were allowed to play with... This was our second visit and we loved it just as much as the first time. So much to see and do. The guides are really helpful and informative without being pushy. The kids were allowed to do all sorts of things from playing the pianola to operating a telephone switch board. One of the highlights are the cakes in... More

We took four grandchildren aged between 5 and 15 and they all found things to interest them. We even toasted a slice of bread in front of the open fire. It was great to see so many old toys - many of which I remember!!

Ha ha! There's always a little ambivalence at seeing things you recognise from your own past in a museum. But we're so glad you enjoyed your visit and thank you very much for writing a review. It means a lot to our volunteers. More

After reading other reviews, I was initially disappointed as we started our visit, for some had compared it Dudley's Black Country Museum or Iron Bridges Blist Hill, but one could tell from the map or the reception that it was not in the same league. But within a few minutes I realized that this museum has a charm all of... More

Thanks Bob for 'getting us', and for taking the time to write a review. We really hope you'll want to visit again in 2018 when we open two major new galleries that will be equally interactive and preserve the hands-on, get involved approach. It is so helpful to us that people like you take the time to tell others about... More

Good day out with many things to try out. It is a hands on museum my children enjoyed cooking toast on the fire the old fashioned way! Worth a visit and lots of information available from the volunteers. The telephone exchange at the end was very interesting and amazing how time has changed so quickly. Good value and an informative... More

Thanks for your review Joanne. It was certainly a week for hot buttered toast and we're sure the children will remember the experience. We're really grateful for every review. It all helps tell others what to expect and get the word out about the museum. More
