After travelling down a precarious pot holey road we reached the farm, the entrance fee was £20 for 2 adults and a child, our under 2 was free, we also paid for some animal feed and a donkey ride. Initially we thought that this was quite expensive for a farm, however, once we had finished our visit we realised that... More

We have been to Smithhills on 2 occasions now! Reasonably priced, purchase food for the kids to feed to the animals. The petting area is amazing, you are allowed to pet and feed groups of animals, our little ones loved it. The cafe is again reasonably priced and has really nice food, though weve also taken a picnik and used... More

This was our 1st trip to Smithills and it was fantastic. My class had a great time and the activities on offer were excellent. All activities were very well organised on a carousel system. All the animals were happy and provided an excellent learning opportunity for my class. The workers cared for the animals well and were excellent with the... More

This is the 5th year that the reception class I work in have visited the farm and it's just as good each time. The staff are fabulous and are great with the children, happy to answer any questions, no matter how bizzare. There is just enough to do to fill the day and places to go if the weather isn't... More

Really entertaining. The staff are friendly, polite & engaging. Lots to see - my boy aged 5 loved holding the chicks & feeding the animals. The Tractor ride & donkeys were good for small children & it was well organised. Definitely recommend.

Visited today, the adventure playground is not suitable for toddlers, which is surely their main clientele, there is a tractor in the play area which has no seat and looks unsafe for children to play on. There is an area with ride on cars, Wendy houses etc, this was filthy. The animals in some areas were overcrowded, with 13 goats... More

I went on my sons first ever nursery group trip and it was brilliant!! Loads to see and do for a 3 year old and the staff couldn't have been more organised and friendly with a group of 34 pre school children (plus the other 4 schools visiting on that day) I will definitely go back on a family trip

Great for a family day out especially for children of mixed ages. Reasonable entrance fee with extras for donkey and tractor rides but plenty to see and do. Lots of animals, play areas and indoor play area. Café a bit basic but food was ok and not too pricey, would take a picnic next time or buy things from the... More

We went on a school trip yesterday 4/6/14 and upon arrival the bus couldn't make it up the road due to road works so about a 7 mins trek to the actual farm. The road is full of ruts/potholes so be careful in a car. We were greeted by very friendly staff, they were very organised and helpful. I found... More
