As our town hall is currently under going a revamp, the 'one stop shop' for council services, is currently in the libbery, this has it's self been updated, I wasn't at all sure of it at first, but it has grown on me, it's bright and modern, and the staff friendly and available when you need them, the museum part... This is a very good museum for all ages, we took our 2 year old grandson there, and although only small loved it, aquarium not much, but dinosaurs and other stuff is great, and its free, well worth a visit.

We decided to pop down one afternoon after moving to the area. The building is stunning, as is the town hall near by. The entrance is grand with marble spiral staircases leasing down to the aquarium, and up to the museum, gallery and archives. Ground floor is home to the library. The aquarium, while being quite small, is intimate more... More

I visited Bolton Museum & didn't disappoint, it has plenty of educational history worldwide, and interesting facts. It also has a lovely aquarium, with facts of the aquatic life. It's defiantly worth a visit, great for all ages.

We frequently visit the Library and especially the Aquarium as my daughter loves watching the fish being fed. Upstairs is a great museum with a lot to see and the hours slip away.

Bolton central library has always been first class. Now the museum has really moved on, the exhibits are now up to date and cater for all. Gone has the saying 'Oh, that's still here' The Museum has equipped it's self more than adequately to interest all age groups. Now go can go several times and from science to history the... More

Great place. Replicas of things like the bust of Queen Nefertiti and statues of Minerva. Apparently the founder of the museum bought them believing them allnto be genuine! The aquarium is very good. Altogether a really excellent afternoon out

The display of tropical fish (many threatened, one or more extinct in the wild) is linked to the conservation and breeding work done by the staff to support the survival of threatened species. The tanks are well maintained, the labels are informative and the fish look healthy and contented. I am told that the aquarium is smaller than it used... More

Being a life long resident of Bolton, I have grown up with the Library and Museum, in Lee mans crescent, it looks spectacular from the outside, (and has been in films and on TV, 'impersonating' various country's and places,) inside the staff are always helpful, and will talk you through how to do something, such as finding the whereabouts of...
