Bolton has one of the country's finest collections of Egyptology, they have so much of it that they are able to exhibit part of their collection in other countries. There is also a very good display featuring Bolton itself, how it developed over the years and the people who helped make the town thrive. The Library itself has a good... More

Boltob museum is an exciting place to visit. In the basement there is an aquarium with a good variety of fish, the best department of all is the Egyptology department, which includes a mummy. A great afternoon outl all for free .

i wanted to show my children the museum that I remembered being so fascinating to myself as a child. Unfortunately its now run down and half empty. The aquarium was terrible, so disappointing and a sad reflection on the council of Bolton.

When I order a book I do it on line and then collect from here. It is so quick and easy these days and if you are not sure what to do there are plenty of friendly and helpful staff. The place is always clean and they seem to have managed to stop people smoking in the doorway.

Called in here to try and find some information for some research I have been doing. Staff were extremely helpful showing me where all the microfiche files were and how to work the equipment. I managed to find what I was looking for quickly and wouldn't hesitate to use this service again. I would probably spend a day here using... More

I visited the museum to research Bolton's history. Very very helpful and friendly staff. We have some beautiful buildings in Bolton the museum being one of them. The art gallery is always worth a visit, you will always meet someone new to have friendly chat with or have your own quiet meander.

There was something for everyone, Egypt section was great especially the computer scan and xrays of the mummy; well displayed small natural history room and two art gallery rooms. It was definitely worth a visit. It was free and the staff we friendly and helpful. Oh... More

I was in Bolton having the car serviced and MOT'd so decided to spend a couple of hours in the Museum. I first visited it around 55 years ago as a young boy when I found it to be fascinating and wondered if it still held the same attraction. I was not disappointed. The exhibits are set out remarkably from... More
