As the salford quays area grows in strength, with more great restaurants coming (dockside!) it has really made getting out to the quays for a walk up and down the ship canal really worth while.

I was concerned that this was 6 hours long but it was really enjoyable and interesting - I love industrial history. However the weather turned cold and drizzlely for the last couple of hours so it was quite miserable as you couldn't stay out on deck and enjoy the commentary. The guide was brilliant, I learnt a lot. We chose... More

All the staff were excellent on Iris yesterday. The ferry is old, supposed to have been refurbished I believe but the seating is not very comfortable at all especially when it is cold outside and it is a 6 hour cruise. You really do need to be sat outside upstairs to get the most out of the experience but do... More

Enjoyed the trip from Seacombe to Salford Quays on the Royal Iris but we could not hear the commentary very well at all, so we missed out on a lot of interesting information we were anxious to hear. Several passengers mentioned this to the Mersey Ferries staff who said the system was turned up as high as it would go,... More

My walks along The Manchester Ship Canal has usually been between the Ibis Budget Hotel at Salford Quays up to The Lowry/ This area is of historical interest, as the Shipping Canal used to be one of the greatest ports - now it attracts water sports. A nice area to walk, enjoy local cafes and restaurants and, of course, the... More

We sailed from The Quays to Albert Dock in Liverpool on a glorious summers day. We were able to sit on deck for the whole journey and found it very relaxing but at the same time most interesting. We were under the impression the Ship Canal was no longer commercially used but were completely wrong - it is. I won't... More
