for a small museum this really packs a punch. have been here several times and the Edwardian rooms are a delight to see each time and you feel yourself going back to that age...it is very believable and cosy as it is not too big or overly grand. there are also clothing and textile displays and these change every so... This house was built by a Derby architect, Joseph Pickford, for his family. It was not only a family house but it also advertised his business so it's a very beautiful house. Most of the house is open to the public from the attic down to the kitchens, and there is no charge, just a suggested donation of £5 which... More

My daughter and I wanted to spend some time together and we just love museums. I found this one by chance of google and we decided to have a look. To be honest, it really is quite difficult to find and we spent longer looking where to park than we did in the museum. When we did park, it actually... More

It was a house that was owned by a Georgian family authentically made up for or to see from that period. Very interesting. Free entry also

Have family over for the weekend and had a look around Derby for the first time. Nice place to visit although it won't last all day. Interesting.

A beautiful Georgian building that has been turned into a nice little museum. On the lovely (but busy) Friargate/Ashbourne Rd it's a nice part of the city that DCC could/should do a lot more with. Easily reached from the city centre and close enough to restaurants for more of day out with kids. It is free to enter and nice... More

I've been visiting Pickfords house on and off since about 1995 and never seem to get bored of it. One of the reasons is because they are always changing the exhibitions, and thats one of the nice things about this place- it's so open to new interpretation and exhibitions without all the restrictions that other heritage sites do. But they... More

Driven past this place many times not realising the gem behind that front door. The history is fascinating. The guide is dressed in customary dress of the era & is obviously full of interesting information on Pickford House & all the goings on. Well worth a visit. Be sure to book your slot.

Took a little bit of finding, probally 10 to 15 minute walk from city centre, but well worth the visit. A Regency style town house built by the architect as a showcase for his talent as well as a family home. Some of the fooms were not open on the day we visited because of flooding from the previous nights... More

This is a good place to take young children, I have been a few times as it is local to me. There is plenty of activities to do and is also very educational.
