The cathedral and its precinct are examples of wonderful architecture and building skills and are well worth a visit whenever you are in the city of Gloucester. Inside the cathedral there are royal burial places, fantastic stonework and ceilings, many memorials and others items to view, not forgetting the cloisters were Harry Potter scenes were shot. The area around the... More

Well worth a visit to experience the grandeur of the architecture and to breath in the history. Some Harry Potter scenes were filmed here so it's a good place if you are a fan of the books and movies. It may not keep the attention of younger children though, but there is a grassy area at the back where they... More

Just a few mintues walk from the centre of Gloucester you will find this magnificant building dating back to Normans times. Its the burial place of Edward II of England who was murdered at Berkeley Castle, which is worth a visit itself. The architecture is a rich mix of a number of influences, not surpricing as it took over 600... More

Without going into specific detail, this one of the most amazing and beautiful buildings in the United Kingdom, and possibly the world. Take the guided tour, and you will learn lots of interesting and thought provoking information about the structure and how it was built. Well worth the time and effort!

Gloucester Cathedral is almost a hidden bit of history within Gloucester, but once you're there, it is facinating to walk around and drink in the ties that this local place has with British history.

A beautiful cathedral steeped in history whilst at the same time has been the location for Harry Potter films. An entry charge is optional but well worth the visit as is close to city centre and Beatrix Potter building whilst within easy walking distance of docks and new shops.

If you love history then this is a must. Do take the time to have a guided tour - it will add so much to your visit. You might walk past King Edward the second's tomb and would certainly miss so many stories if you only do a quick walk round.
