We were the choir in residence at the Cathedral for a week in July. The Cathedral is filled with history and mystery including murdered kings and catacombs. Several scenes from Harry Potter were filmed there as well.

We visited on a Sunday and enjoyed hearing the choir practise. Wonderful building. A performance by Nigerian students was a delightful bonus.

We stopped in Gloucester for a shopping trip whilst on the way to holiday in the Cotswolds. Had no idea there was even a cathedral there! We wandered in for a nosey and before we knew it we were completely captivated! what a stunning cathedral, in fabulous condition, amazing stained glass windows, beautiful artifacts and detailed tombs. We loved it... More

One of the best Cathedrals we visited on our trip to England. Make sure you have a couple of hours to admire and see this cathedral. It was also pretty cool to see the sections where some of the Harry Potter movies were filmed.

Free entrance but donations are welcome. This cathedral is roughly half as old as Christianity as the building started in 1089 originally as a Benedictine monastery. It even became a burial place for King Edward II. The building has various types of Gothic architecture and a variety of stained glass windows including one showing an early version of golf. The... This is our second time at the cathedral. What can I say. It is so beautiful. We brought our friends with us this time as they had never been. We all had a great time walking round and the history. Everyone should come. Even Harry Potter fans :)

We stayed in Gloucester mainly to be close enough to take a bus to Tintern Abbey, but we woke up to pouring rain with no hope of it letting up. We decided to go to Gloucester Cathedral as a backup plan, and it ended up being one of the best sites on our vacation. There is no admission fee, but... More

...revisited after 44 years! No shark-like taking of admission fees (cf St Pauls or Westminster Abbey) - just peace. Do visit the splendid Close and environs - such a change from the tawdry modern streets of Gloucester which are so close by. Excellent tea shop just off the cloisters
