...revisited after 44 years! No shark-like taking of admission fees (cf St Pauls or Westminster Abbey) - just peace. Do visit the splendid Close and environs - such a change from the tawdry modern streets of Gloucester which are so close by. Excellent tea shop just off the cloisters

We realised that Evensong was starting soon so had a quick look around the garden and cloisters before joining Evensong. It was so peaceful as if the angels were singing in this place rich with history and the presence of all those who'd gathered here in prayer during those years. Heavenly!

Well ,another fine, well maintained, cathedral, practically in the city centre. I'm starting to wish that these and similar places were ticketed, and not demand 'donations'.

This cathedral and adjacent cloisters are really well worth a visit if you are Gloucester. The cathedral is so well maintained and full of history going back over 800 years.

On a beautiful day, we admired the cathedral's exterior, especially the tower. Entering, we were struck by the height of the massive Norman columns and the great windows. No charge was made and we wandered freely among the monuments. Don't miss the Whispering Gallery (£2pp) with its viewing and guide to the greatest 14c stained glass window.

This Cathedral has such a history attached to it it really is one of the best places to visit in Gloucester as well as one of the greatest Cathedrals in the world. Entry is free though donations are welcome. The guides are all very friendly and extremely knowledgeable. Keep an eye on the website as there are often special exhibitions... More

Such a beautiful building! we had a great visit, wandering around the cathedral. Some of the corridors and even the main cathedral itself look like they are straight out of Hogwarts. Some parts of the Harry Potter films were filmed in Gloucester cathedral- and it is too easy to imagine professor snape sauntering around the corridors on a quiet day!
