Description: You probably know us as a lovely place for children to see the animals...
You probably know us as a lovely place for children to see the animals, run around in beautiful countryside and let off steam in our state-of-the-art play barn - but there's a lot more to Sacrewell. With the help of £1.4 million from the Heritage Lottery Fund, our 18th century water mill is being transformed into a national centre for milling excellence - take a tour and find out how your great-grandparents got their daily bread. Foodies can also join a tractor trip around the fields of our tenant farmers Riverford Organic Farms (it's on our land). Then there's our wildlife trail, scavenger hunt and two new rambles - if you're lucky, you'll see the rare red kites and brown hares. Seasonal events range from our Lamb National to ploughing with vintage tractors. You can even meet a film star - some of our shires appeared in War Horse. In our 50th year as a charity dedicated to agricultural education, we continue to welcome students of all ages who want to learn traditional skills and get an insight into rural life. We hope that all our visitors not only have a great day out but feel they've learned something too.

Visited Sacrewell with sisters family, family paid £25.50 entry, for this found that a number of pens had no animals, and others had single animals. The kids liked seeing the lambs being fed and this display was very informative. The indoor playground was great especially in wet weather, but the café facilities there are limited. Overall the kids loved the... More

We took our 9 month old son here specifically for the soft play. We arrived at 1.00pm and was advised the play barn would be closing at 2.00pm that day so we should probably not bother. We said it was fine as he's so young we wouldn't want longer than this anyway. They did therefore charge us a "reduced" fee... More

We love sacrewell and we visit often but I must say the cafe has really gone downhill. Two years ago everyone talked about sacrewell and it's amazing home cooked food. I had an amazing beef casserole and winter veg Mash that was simply delicious. The last two visits the food has been appalling. Rock hard scones, dried up hot plate... More

Firstly we were greeted by Hazel who should go to customer service school. Very rude when asking what time the lamb feeding was she said you won't get near them as the school children get priority! This should be stated on the website so if you are thinking about during term time don't bother! There was a lack of animals.... More

Hi Lucy, Thanks for your feedback and I'm sorry you didn't have as good an experience as last time you visited when you gave us 5*. I have passed on your feedback to the relevant manager. In the event information for our lamb feeding shows on the website, it does state "Feeding shows take place at 10am, 11am, 12pm, 2pm,... More

Thank you for your feedback and I'm sorry to hear you did not feel there was value for money at Sacrewell. We have plenty of things to do at the centre, including rambles and trails and if you would like any advice on what to see/do in the future, please just ask a member of staff or use our website... Visited Sacrewell yesterday and loved every minute. It's the first time I've visited - despite it being on my doorstep - but it certainly won't be the last. Seeing the little lambs being fed was an incredible experience and the lady presenting the talk was evidently passionate about them. So refreshing to see. The whole place was immaculately clean and... More

Hi Adam, Thanks so much for your review-it was lovely to hear that you were so impressed with your first visit, and I hope you'll be back when the watermill reopens in July. I have passed on your feedback to Tracey, who was the ranger doing the lamb feeding show, and she was over the moon. See you soon, Megan More

There's plenty here to keep the kids amused- lambs being fed, rabbits, guinea pigs, horses, donkeys, pigs, goats, tractor rides, indoor play area. Not expensive particularly if you take your own picnic. Friendly staff. Dog friendly, apart from restaurant and play barn.

We took our 3 year old daughter to Sacrewell to see all the animals and we all had a lovely time. She loved seeing the baby lambs and chicks. We had a good walk round and she did not get bored as there is so much to see and do. She loves the playbarn and I think we spent about... More

We visited here en route from Cheshire to Norfolk, stopping for a bite to eat mid-way. Pleasantly surprised by the menu choices available; we chose leek & potato soup served with warm ciabatta, beef stroganoff with pepper rice, and pasta with meatballs. The food quality was excellent, nice surroundings and great service.
