This beautiful castle stands on a lovely evergreen oasis located just outside the historic town of Wexford in the sunny South East. The lovely gardens are a tranquil oasis and contain many lovely trees and bright blooming plants. There are many walks and even a little stream. The castle is very well preserved and can be hired out for private functions ect.The... More

We just went to walk around the grounds and it was amazing, very well kept and so naturally beautiful. The castle was closed but we would love to go back for a tour of it. The staff in the cafe were very friendly and welcoming. And it is very clean place to eat.

The castle is not yet open to the public but I believe this may change in the near future. The gardens around the castle are beautiful - it was lovely to stroll through the grounds and around the lakes. We decided to visit the Museum of Irish Agriculture which is located in the grounds (I have to admit I was... More

Johnstown Castle is well worth a visit. The 19th Century castle is surrounded by beautiful gardens containing fortifications and round towers built by the Normans and later during the Cromwellian invasion. The path that follows the main lake is particularly pleasant with vista to the main castle. There are photo opportunities at every turn.

So beautiful...I took a lot of pictures! I'd never seen peacocks walk around like that before. It was very peaceful; there weren't a lot of other people around on a January afternoon. Wearing Wellies (rain boots) helped a lot with the mud. There are a lot of signs threatening that you will be locked in if you are inside past... More

I visited Johnstown Castle recently on a family holiday. It is a great place to take kids - forest and lake walks are perfect. The scenery is amazing. We took the tour of the museum which was a real hit with the kids - they loved the little quiz sheet they had to complete. The food in the Peacock café... More

Jqohnstown castle gardens, well worth a visit and value for money at €3 per adult entry. Signage around grounds leaves a lot to be desired.but a map is provided. Pity the castle itself isn't open to the public.

The best 3euro value around! We visited on Tues. Aug. 20th. The grounds are magnificent, with lovely walks all around. The building itself is, sadly, not open to the public, and that's a great shame as it looks amazing. The walled garden is huge, and the flower borders are partially planted, and were in full bloom when we visited. The... More
