Enjoyed wandering around Johnstown Castle grounds. The castle itself is very impressive and although it can be hired for weddings, unfortunately it's not open to the public. Didn't visit the museum but ate in the Peacock tearoom adjoining the museum. The scones and rhubarb tart were delicious. Good value for a modest fee. More

These gardens are well worth a visit and when we were there, we were able to take a horse and carriage ride around them which was a great way to get an over-view. The lakes are especially attractive and it has appeal for all age groups. A very pleasant place for a summer picnic. More

Although the above could be used to describe many of Wexford's attractions, Johnstown Castle, its grounds and its Irish Agricultural Museum are quite exceptional. We were fortunate to visit on an unseasonably warm March day. Charge for admission applies from 1st April to 31st October. Adults pay €3 for admission to grounds, and €8 for grounds and garden.
