It was better at the time the previous owner sold it to Westmeath County Council. Since then it's character has been destroyed. For a place and setting that has so much potential it is a prime example of how not to do things. At the moment it's a nice place to go for a quiet walk. That's about all I... More

Advertised as "a frightfully entertaining family friendly show" at Belvedere House in County Westmeath. (Website 28th October 2013) It cost us €26:50 and was a total waste of money and time. There was nothing "family friendly" about it, I would go as far as to say it was family unfriendly Here are the facts as I perceived them: The "entertainment"... More

Well this is a wonderful example of a walled garden. It is like "The Secret Garden" on steroids! the wall that surrounds it is very old and the quantity of different plants is outstanding. If you have ever desired to make a walled garden this would be an inspiration. There is wrought iron gates that you go through to get... More

Nice gardens. Friendly and helpful staff. Nicely decorated restaurant. Clean. But one of the worse meal I had in a long time. Stay away from the coffee shop. The salads are bad, the cakes are worse. It should happen to the Chef what happened to the first wife of the Earl of Belvedere: be locked away for 30yrs! Belvedere house... More

We got full use of our family ticket for about 4 years. Its the most beautiful place in the Midlands. Perfect for young kids in prams or just starting to walk. It has a 5 km forest walk plus lake, house, secret gardens. There is always an event from scruffs dog show for the not so groomed dog's to carnivals.... More

We went as a group if 8, kids and adults. The kids spied the play area as soon as they arrived and happily played there while we ordered lunch. We entered into the main stone bulit area which has an eclectic mix of period and modern furnishings. I expected basic fare for lunch but was delighted to see a modern... More

Had a great day out. We visited with another family with 2 kids. The paths were smooth enough for the buggy and the scenery around the paths is varied and interesting, especially the Narnia Trail. We especially liked the fairy garden, though the hit of the day was the playgrounds for the kids and the thoughtfully placed playhouses just across... More

Parking - excellent, shop and cafe - adequate and exactly as you'd expect in a historic house/garden. Toilets and other facilities all very good and very clean. We walked right round the 'Narnia trail' - the garden is lovely, it is very well kept, very tidy and well pathed in most areas. The link to Narnia is a bit tenuous... More
