We self-toured this three story mansion to save time, but were able to overhear some of the bigger highlights from the great tour guides leading other groups. The rooms were beautifully decorated according to the period of the owners ranging from the late 1700's to the mid 1950's. This was well worth a visit to see all the interesting historical... More

Many thanks Jan for taking the time firstly to visit us and secondly for writing such a great review. The team here pride themselves on making the experience as memorable as possible for visitors and while the self guided tour will save time, there is so much to learn from the re-enactors who go into great detail about the palace... Waterford has come on in leaps and bounds in recent years from a historical tourist perspective and one of the great places to visit is the Bishop's Palace. I would definitely recommend seeing it with the guided tour, where entertaining period actors will lead you around the house and its many exhibits - drawing you into the history of the... More

A ‘must-do’ when in Waterford is the fine Georgian Bishop’s Palace and we urge everyone to meet Mrs Rickards herself and hear her story. At the Palace there is also a fascinating display of events that took place during the 20th century with a sprinkling of entertainment history that includes the Hucklebuck Hero’s white shoes.

This was interesting and quick to walk through with a docent who presented the history of the period and showed some of the furniture, silver and clothing of the bishop who lived in the house centuries ago. If you buy a ticket for both the bishops house and the medieval museum, you can save a few pounds.

A great and interesting place, providing you with information about historic events. What is special about this place is the "telling tales" guided tour where the guides wear historical dress and the "housekeeper" tells you about "current" events and her daily life.... reminded me of the housekeeper character in the Downton Abbey TV series, which was certainly a plus for... The highlight of Waterford England are these 3 museums in one--the Waterford Treasures Medieval Museum, the Bishop's Palace, and Reginald's Tower. In a nutshell it is the staff that bring these landmarks to life. At Bishop's Palace the guides dress up in period costume, playing the role of head mistress and butler with such excellent humor--drawing in the audience which... More

Excellent tour. The guide was so into his history, he made it so enjoyable. It is is a lovely old building and it is great that they have rescued and rebuilt it rather than knock it down. Definitely do the tour.

Another Gem in the Viking triangle. The Housekeeper and Butler brought us back in time to enjoy the riches of this house. What a wonderful display of some of the oldest Waterford Crystal! Well worth a visit!
