This was nice but I wouldn't say it was a must see. Perhaps if we had taken the guided tour, it would have been more enjoyable.

Hi Billie, It is good to hear that you enjoyed your visit to the Bishop's Palace, unfortunately our re-enactor-led guided tour is one of the main attractions to this historic building. The two actors, playing the role of the Butler and Housekeeper really bring the past to life and the tour promises that you will laugh while learning. The audio... More

This is a great tour, and very informative. I was so happy I went and done the tour. The guides really do grab and keep your attention, they are quite funny, and know how to work their audience, included the kids in their jokes making it interesting for them which is not easy. Didn't eat in the restaurant there but... More

The Bishop's Palace is a nice museum showing Waterford around the 1700's - 1900's. It has beautifully preserved rooms, period furnishings and collections of Waterford glass, among other things. But what makes the place special are the guides/actors in costume that give the tour. They are very knowledgable and stay in character as they guide you through the house. They... More

Took the audio tour today with two German visitors, we all enjoyed ourselves. Spread over three floors it was just the right size, not too long. I agree with another review, the exhibits could be do with updating but there are some wonderful exhibits e.g. the harp in the music room is amazing. It gives a taste of Waterford in... More

Hi Tararoots! So glad to hear that you enjoyed your visit to the Bishop's Palace, it is a pity you didn't get to take our re-enactor led tour which brings the history of Waterford to life. The top floor of the museum is dedicated to a museum of 20th century Waterford and so is not in keeping with the Georgian... More

Super tour given by two authentic characters in costume. Buy a joint ticket for this and the museum. Very enjoyable and well worth a visit.

The Bishop's Palace is a nice place to visit when in Waterford, but I'm not sure it's worth the fee unless you are a history buff. It is small and contains some nice, antique furniture, pictures, and other relics similar to what you would see in some of the castles.

Good afternoon Moppa2015, The Bishop's Palace Museum houses a display of Waterford's treasures from 1700 to the 20th century and aims to give visitors an insight into what was, up until the 1750's, Ireland's second city. Some of the key pieces it holds include the world's oldest piece of Waterford Crystal, the Penrose Decanter as well as the last surviving... More
