Trim Castle is an imposing sight as one enters the city and only becomes more so as one approaches it on foot. I can imagine that, in season, it is even more impressive. We visited in January and the castle was closed but one could still walk the grounds. It had only just snowed (snow was still lightly falling) as... More

Decided to take the guided tour of the castle ruins and was very enjoyable. The guide was a lovely fellow with plenty of knowledge about the ruins. Steps within the castle are a bit narrow but manageable. Gives a good insight into life a long time ago. A piece of the stretching contraption used on Mel Gibsons character in Braveheart... More

ended up here as part of Extreme Ireland's 'Celtic Tour' otherwise it's a long way to get to Trim! The guide was amazing, good fun - and we saw weaponry and were took on a journey through the castle and castle life. Chunks of Braveheart was filmed here, but don't let that put you off.

At the outside looks nothing special but inside there is an interesting history. Did you know that Bravehard was filmed in this castle? The tour guide was really really good and funny and very animated. Worth try the visit.

Once again get the OPW card and save. Were there on the ideal day with mist and low clouds. Take the full tour and get to climb to the top of the castle. Tour giude was fantastic. Informative and very knowledable and loved what he did. Go

Unless one lives in Trim or has family there, there are very few reasons to actually visit this blue-collar working town an hour north of Dublin. However, Trim Castle alone provides a solid reason to at least make a day trip from Dublin. For my wife and I, Trim was the last stop on a two week vacation and it... More

It worth paying for the full tour to go up thru the castle and not just the inner grounds. Go to the top for the view and we liked the inner catwalk bridges to get a look at the heights if the great hall.

We toured Trim Castle on a cold, rainy day in December. While the grounds were beautiful, the tour of the keep was well-worth the additional cost. Our guide was very informative and entertaining, not to mention the respite from the rain and wind. Be prepared to climb up and down some steep, narrow stairs.

Three words: Braveheart Castle... Boom. but alas I am required to type 100 words so I'll state the obvious. This castle rocks. Go see it. Why are you still reading this? Unless you are reading this on your mobile whilst on your way to the aforementioned castle. Then in that case, carry on.

Visited Trim Castle with 2 young kids (5 and 2 year old) and they had a great time running around and exploring. It was only 8 euro entry for family rate and we had brought a small picnic with us to eat on the grounds (there's no tourist facilities onsite). There's possibility to do a castle tour, we we didn't... More
