Makes you feel connected to the history of Ireland and the reverence in which they honored their dead. More

Not as interesting as Newgrange but on the same tour. Interesting exterior carvings take you back in time. Can be cold windy and rainy so dress warm and take an umberella. More

Do you like history, then this is the place for you. This place was built so well, that kings and queens built on top of it and did not know they were standing on a manmade structure. If you go to Newgrange, do not miss Knowth. They are both worth the time and the price of the tour. DO NOT... More

We visited both Knowth and Newgrange. While Newgrange was nice because you can go inside, there is something truly wonderful about Knowth. There is a sense of something still there that is missing from the overly handled and entered Newgrange. Our guide was phenomenal. She was clearly quite in love with the property and admitted to typically coming early to... More

The burial mounds at Knowth are worth a stop. The experience was certainly enhanced by our tour guide Alan Cooney. His passion and enthusiasm grabbed everyones attention, even those that normally could have cared less. The connections of this site to many of the world's other sites was very interesting. The view of the surrounding valleys are also very impressive. More

Knowth is another passage tomb located in the Boyne Valley within sight of Newgrange (see my separate review for Newgrange). It has two passages running deep into the mound (Newgrange has one), and like Newgrange has exquisite examples of neolithic rock art. But this is where similarities end: the largest mound at Knowth is surrounded by smaller "satellite" burial mounds... More

While the tour is not as impressive as the one at Newgrange, Knowth has much that is not available at its more famous cousin. Unlike Newgrange, Knowth has a long history of use and human habitation ending only a few hundred years ago. As a result, it is surrounded by numerous smaller mounds of varying ages and uses, and affords... More
