We got the Clew Bay Bike Hire shuttle bus from Westport to Achill and then cycled back. The weather at the start made it difficult but the views were stunning. It cleared up after we reached Mulranny and we made a stop off at Yvonne's cottage for tea. On the route from Mulranny to Newport I went off on some... More

Did this cycle last week. Unfortunately the weather was against us but it didn't take from the experience. This is a lovely cycle for all levels. It's extremely well signposted and the cycle path is in fantastic condition. The scenery is pretty spectacular. It's an easy cycle from Achill to Newport. From there it's a little tougher but doable. It's... More

Have never experienced such a well signposted and well kept tourist attraction in Ireland. The views are stunning, a truly memorable experience. One hint -the prevailing wind goes from west to east so for an easier cycle you could get a lift to Achill and cycle with the wind to Newport/Westport.

Spent a lovely day on the green way with my husband and 2 children. Brought our own bikes with us and a picnic! Lovely way to see the countryside. On the way back that evening stopped off for a lovely dinner in Navin's.

It has everything, great views and scenery. Peace and quiet. Places to eat along the way, places to sleep. Possibility to rent out bikes (even electric ones...) and shuttle bus to bring you back. Well organized. The last leg from Newport to Westport is nothing special.

We had a lovely time as a family cycling this route. It is perfectly safe however there are a couple of points where you have to cross the main road, you just need your wits about you and keep an eye on the smaller ones as normal. My tips, bring water and some grub, definitely for the smaller ones as... More

Fantastic. Some of us were fit (ordinary bikes); some less so (electric bikes). All had a most marvellous cycle from Achill to Newport via Mulranny (& a couple of tea shops). Fabulous fun!
