We loved the Angela's Ashes walking tour with Declan. This was a highlight of our trip. Yes, even compared to the Cliffs of Moher, Dingle, the Ring of Kerry, Blarney, Dublin, Guinness, Jameson, Waterford...I would say this tour ranked higher than most of the other adventures we had in Ireland. The streets of Limerick painted the struggles of Ireland in... More

Well, as someone who has never read the book or watched the film and never will, I must thank Noel for a great few hours entertainment. My wife is the Frank McCourt fan and Noels tour brought the book to life. It was great to meet Noel and listen to his stories. Well worth the money. My only problem is... More

My mother and I have both read Angelas Ashes, and watched the film, and loved it, so were keen to do the tour - and were not dissapointed! Due to the weather, it was only the two of us, which meant we could ask as many questions as we wanted and not feel like we were holding people up. Great... More

I booked an 'Angela's Ashes' special package with the George boutique hotel in Limerick on December 5th; it included 'ANGELA'S ASHES WALKING TOUR'. I was very fortunate to meet Noel Curtin as my guide. It was a very special experience: Noel brought the story to life for me; he is extremely knowledgeable, experienced, very nice, and professional and has a... More

Our tour guide, Noel, was great...very knowledgeable. Sadly, a number of places in the book were no longer in existence...but we knew that before the tour. It was great to see all the places that were still standing, i.e., Leamy's School, a couple of the churches, the St. Vincent de Paul Society, etc. If you read the book, you should... More

First of all, Michael has never read the book. Instead, he relies on anecdotes from his childhood about the level of poverty in Ireland at the time. While he shows you the locations from Angela's Ashes, there isn't too much left to see. However the stories are amusing as he recounts several incidents from the book. I had expected something... NOEL WAS A FANTASTIC GUIDE! Initially, I was saddened to hear that Michael was feeling under the weather and was not able to give my boyfriend and I the tour of Limerick and Angela's Ashes. I heard about him on TripAdvisor so I was looking forward to his tour. However, we were delighted to meet Noel as he was very... More

Michael, the tour guide kept quoting from the book and treated us like students. There weren't really any buildings left to see, they'd nearly all been demolished. It was a waste of time really, whereas teh Leamy's school museum was worth a visit - separate to the AA tour, a waste of shoe leather.

I read a review that implied Mr. O'Donnel might be getting too old for the tour. Nonsense! "Mick" is a physical & mental dynamo! At least 20 yrs. my senior, it was a challenge to keep up with him. And his memory is remarkable - quoted "The Composition" verbatim! By the end of the tour I felt as if Frank... More
