We did the Ballyorgan loop today and enjoyed magnificent views on a long (15km?) varied trek. You start beside streams and some natural woodland, move on through planted forest and emerge onto open heathland. There are a few steep parts, both up and down, but nothing a reasonably fit family couldn't handle. Despite a bad forecast and little sunshine we... More

Cannot say enough... Limerick is shown at it's glorious Golden Vale best when walking in Ballyhoura. Good facilities and parking. A wide variety of walks, well mapped out and easy to follow.

Tough twenty Km walk starting in the sleepy village of Ballyorgan in the middle of the Ballyhouras with pleasant views, testing sections but very relaxing.Well signposted.

We started doing the pub to pub trail, but were not properly prepared (didn't bring any "wellies") so we switched to the Canon Sheehan walk loop. Nice, mostly shaded path. Easy to follow. We didn't do the whole loop so there wasn't much elevation change, other than the first 200 yards from the car park to the stream.

No down points for the trails in Ballyhoura country. There is a great variety of long, short, steep and flat walks to suit all types of fitness. Nice cheap and worthwhile day out. Sometimes it's easy to forget how beautiful Ireland is and easy to be reminded on the trails.
