I was so happy crossing this river considering we share the same name. It was a nice smooth ride across the river Shannon.

The mouth of this river appears like a bay because it is wide. Some views are beautiful but power plants mar the views at its widest point on both sides of the river. Otherwise, it is calm and relaxing to cross via ferry at Tarbert..

Me and my family went down the River Shannon for 7 days, we saw some really beautiful bits of Ireland I have never seen before. Me and my family took an 8 birth boat down the river with Emerald Star, a company I would not recommend going with, as we had multiple problems with the boat including sewage coming back... More

I am from West Cork but live in the Netherlands. I rarely visit other parts of Ireland because Schull, Barleycove are so beautiful and I don't have enough holidays when I come home. This year I booked a cruise on the Shannon with Carrickcraft with some friends. It is not a cheap holiday and 4 nights cost 1327 euro, insurance... More

If you want a fun experience, take the small ferry ride from Tarbert to Kilrush over the River Shannon. It sames quite a few kilometers of driving, and it is a restful interlude in the grind of driving the challenging Irish roads. We bought our tickets on line for the day that we crossed, and it was an easy boarding... More

A great holiday for all ages ... Inland Waterways have done a fine job, facilities at the main mooring points all clean and toilets well stocked, lock keepers super helpful (except Tarmonbarry) What you can do in a week ... 2x adults, 2x teens ... We rented an Emerald Star Shannon Star cruiser (sleeps 6+2) from Portumna for a 1-way... More

We collected a very clean and very well equipped Carrick Craft, Wexford class cruiser from Carrick on Shannon. The weather we had during the week could have been better but this did not detract from an excellent week. My wife and I have taken narrowboats on the canals in Britain on a number of occasions and this was our first... More

Rented a cruiser from Carrick Craft Banagher for 1 week with my wife and 2 boys. This is a fantastic way of seeing the country from the water, and a totaly different perspective than from the roads. The experience is of course made so much better when the sun is shining, and we had 3 wonderful sunny days, 2 cloudy,... More

The 6 of us took off from Banagher thru Silverline Cruses on a 10 day cruse. We rented the Silver Spirit a 42 ft. boat with 3 bedrooms and 3 bathrooms. The staff at Silverline are good at what they do. They check you in promptly, provide you all the information you will ever need. There boats are in excellent... More

We had a wonderful experience on the ferry, enjoying scones and tea while taking in the beauty of the surroundings. Birds, swans and even a lonely white and brown horse gracing in the field. So peaceful and hearing this beautiful Irish music and song from the local musicians. What a treat!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
