6 of us hired a boat from Carrickcraft in Banagher Co Offaly. We got an 8 berth Fermanagh class boat and it was superb. We decided to head down stream and ended up staying in Portumna for the first night as our boat broke down! 15 mins after we called Carrickcraft for assistance we had a mechanic on board. So... Seeing the River Shannon was like seeing a famous character from storybooks come to life. It's historic, watch for King John's Castle and The Treaty Stone in Limerick.

We rented the Aisling - 6 Berth Cruiser from Flagline Cruiser Hire based in Coosan, Lough Ree near to Athlone for our trip down the majestic Shannon River. We got a great deal for our four night trip and made it as far south as Portumna near the entrance of Lough Derg. Highlights of the trip include: water skiing from... More

Went on 7 night cruise in 36ft motor boat sleeping 4+2 from Carrick On Shannon. Boat was hired from Carrickcraft in Carrick On Shannon and a lot of continental tourists (particularly Swiss, for some reason) do these cruises. The boat is comfortable with two double bedrooms and a dining area that could also accommodate two bunks. Navigating the Shannon is... More

We rented a Silverline 8-berth 'Legend' cabin cruiser for 4 nights from Banagher Co Offaly. We were absolutely thrilled with the boat! It was spacious and new, and was sleek and stunning from the outside and very well laid out and comfortable inside. We had cruised down the Shannon about 15 years ago (and loved it) but this was a... Took a ferry along the Shannon River on our way to the Cliffs of Moher. It is a beautiful river, wide and green areas around. It joins the Atlantic Ocean at The Shannon Estuary. I enjoyed my trip along the river.

We used the Discovertheshannon.com site to pick our boat and plan the whole holiday. I loved it but we were blessed with the weather. We went for nights and departed from Banagher. Firstly we went up towards Athlone stopping at Clonmacnoise for the tour. Then we decided to turn back and head for Killaloe. My favorite places along the way... More

We cruised the Eren waterway with Carrick Craft. We rented the smaller 27' boat but had plenty of room for the two of us. We had an adequate galley where I cooked two meals a day. We sat on the back deck in the am with our tea and scones and fed the swan families who came to visit. When... More

We recently spent 3 nights on the river Shannon on an Emerald Star 35ft Lake Star cruiser. It was adequate for our needs, the best part was the dual steering. We had amazing weather and that made a huge difference to our enjoyment of the trip. Emerald Star provided excellent customer service - even on the Friday evening at 6pm... More
