Frequent this little gem now and again when looking for a relaxing few hours. Atmosphere is second to none. Old world charm with modern service. Food is simple and tasty, Murphys is best outside Cork!! Staff are always friendly and in great form. A well run pub oozing charm.

What is not to like about this pub.... It has been around since forever, it serves a quite exceptional pint of Guinness, the wit of the staff adds to the 'traditional' experience, and time it right you'll have a band of merry musicians play real genuine trad' music to really complete the experience. There are lots of trendy and gimmicky... More

We originally planned to have a relaxed evening with one or two pints but ended up in this amazing bar. The highlight of our trip, natives performed old traditional Irish music. If you want to get in touch with Ireland at it's best go and visit the bar on Monday night. It is unspoiled and you can enjoy the openness... More

Great pub. Very good location just across from the Gate Theatre. Great for pre-theatre drinks or at half- time. Very traditional quiet but also has live music. Nice intimate music venue at rear.

Cleere's is always part of the Subtitle festival, one of the venues. So that's one reason we do spend time there during that event. It is great pub and fire's do add character of it. during day time it's nice and quiet, but never empty. Little cinema on the back of it, is my favorite during subtitle, I wish I... More

Love the food here. Particularly recommend the beef bap and the cajun bean stewp [sic]. Atmosphere is chilled out and I enjoy the moving painting on the wall. Catches your eye when he first moves.

This is what a proper, authentic Irish pub looks like - no plastic shamrocks, no decorations on the top of your pint! It's my local when I'm back in Kilkenny (not actually local to me at all but worth the effort). They have great food (even for vegetarians - try the cottage pie if it's on!), great music and great... Pleasant bar well worth a visit. Food during the day is amazing. Decent selection of beer and extensive whiskey collection. Great service and atmosphere.
