Cleere's is always part of the Subtitle festival, one of the venues. So that's one reason we do spend time there during that event. It is great pub and fire's do add character of it. during day time it's nice and quiet, but never empty. Little cinema on the back of it, is my favorite during subtitle, I wish I... More

This is what a proper, authentic Irish pub looks like - no plastic shamrocks, no decorations on the top of your pint! It's my local when I'm back in Kilkenny (not actually local to me at all but worth the effort). They have great food (even for vegetarians - try the cottage pie if it's on!), great music and great... Pleasant bar well worth a visit. Food during the day is amazing. Decent selection of beer and extensive whiskey collection. Great service and atmosphere.

This place was recommended to us by the tour guide at the Smithwich Experience Tour and our Cycling Tour guide, so we just had to go! Needless to say, the sandwich we had was delicious! So was the soup. Highly recommend!!

Stopped in here for lunch after the Smithwick Experience tour. The bar man was very friendly and cheery. The food was very tasty and well priced and there was a good atmosphere in this well laid out bar. The girl behind the bar even recommended going to a bar next door later that evening to hear the band they were... More

I don't come to Kilkenny without making sure I'm in town for the Monday night music session at Cleeres. Mick leads a good group and everyone has fun. Not too crowded and the audience shows some respect and quiets down for some of the presentations.
