After doing the tour of kilkenny castle we were more knowledgeable about thehistory of the city of kilkenny, which helped when Patrick did the tour with us. We were the only 2 that hour but it probably worked in our favour as he went through the history. Patrick was so knowledgeable and quite funny through out the tour. He s... More

Very interesting tour with a great tour guide. You could tell he was pationate about Smithwick's and the whole ale making process. The tour included modern and hands on exhibitions that really informed you on the history and steps involved in the beer making.

I enjoy Smithwick's at home and thought it would be fun to take the tour. The tour was very informative regarding the history of Smithwick's as well as the history of Kilkenny and Ireland. The tour is interactive and entertaining. I tend to shy away from tours because they are very structured and rushed. This tour was relaxed and we... More

Great guide, friendly staff, great story through the experience. Interactive multimedia exhibitions. Older children would also enjoy this tour. A free drink at the end - pity the coke I choose was without gas. However a wonderful visit. Loved it. Takes about 70 mins to enjoy it and have a drink after..

Even as a non-drinker I found this place interesting. Beer making down to a science, and they show you how it is done. All of the steps and the timing and the ingredients and they heating and cooling. You feel like you should receive a certificate once you have completed the experience!! Especially impressive were the "talking portraits." Very cool!!... More

I attended this tour with friends as part of a stag weekend. The tour guide was very good and encouraged interaction throughout. They make good use of AV in it and have some of the actual machines used in the past to make Smithwicks in the exhibition. The tour ends with a pint of Smithwicks, which was my first ever... More

I have been on a few brewery and distillery tours and to me it always comes down to the tour guide. The guide at the Smithwicks Tour was in a word, great. He was very informative and knowledgeable and had a great personality.

This is a must for anyone visiting Kilkenny. And Kilkenny is a must for any visitor to Ireland. This is a really informative, fun, interactive tour through the history and brewing processes of the famous Smithwicks brewery from the Monks right to almost current day. Highly polished, professional and you get to taste the red ale.

The tour is not all that long but is very informative, light hearted and entertaining. So many tours require a lot of reading and are just plain boring where this one is so very well done and keeps you interested and is a tad bit surprising. Can't tell you the surprising part though as that may ruin fun. The pint... More

The tour group was small and the tour was personal and intimate. Our tour guide Sheila was very knowledgeable and funny. All the staff were very friendly, talkative and helpful. I fully recommended it!
