I went to Smithwick's based on the recommendation of a cab driver. It was totally worth it. While Smithwick's is certainly smaller than the Guinness Storehouse, it is no less interesting to learn about the history of the Smithwick's Brewery and the process of brewing beer. Our tour guide was particularly knowledgeable and engaging. He made the visit even better... More

my friend Lisa and I visited Ireland the first week of December 2014. We arrived to Smithwicks Brewery late on a Tuesday hoping it would not be too late for a tour. Rita assured us we would have time to enjoy it and still make our train back to Dublin. She was extremely knowledgeable and fun! She gave us and... More

Had a great time at the brew tour. We were the only ones on the last tour of the day and learned a lot about not just the beer, but the city as well. We had a blast and I am so happy we stopped in:)

Not a bad option for a rainy day in Kilkenny (of which they are likely to be many!). Liked our tour guide who was very enthusiastic. Tour takes around 60 minutes and brings you though the history of Smithwick's and then the brewing process. For those who have been to the Guinness Storehouse in Dublin, the tour contains a lot... Myself and my girlfriend did the tour yesterday and really enjoyed it. Our guide was Simon and he did a great job. The tour was informative and interesting starting with the Franciscan Monks story and continuing on with the history of the Smithwicks family and the brewing process. Lovely pint (soft drinks also available) at the end of the tour... More

The tour is interesting and the use of special effects gives the tour a little something extra, you are shown around by a guide who explains the whole brewing process as well as the history behind Smithwicks and of course the tasting at the end was great.

My wife and I have done a lot of facility tours in our travels and this was not one of the best. Tour started off with great promise in the original storehouse but after a brief video it became a tour of one of the owners house. Our guide didn't seem interested in the group and was not that entertaining.... More

Took this tour when passing through Kilkenny recently and it didn't disappoint. All staff we met were friendly and welcoming, the tour itself is well organised and nicely paced. Only improvement I could of is for the audio on each section of tour to be put on a timer which guide could control. In a couple of spots audio overlapped.... More
