Kilkenny was the first stop on a multi-city/town tour in Ireland that my husband and I took in January 2015. I fell in love with Kilkenny the first night we were there ... there is definitely a reason why it was voted the 9th Friendliest City in the World! Visiting Smithwick's was not part of our original plan ... but... More

We were lucky enough to have the guided tour just for ourselves and it was an amazing experience. Not only get to see how the beer is made in a way that you really get it, smell it, touch it and taste it, but get to see the and understand the story of the family which is the story of... More

I paid for the simulated 'Experience' tour in November 2014 and I enjoyed it, but it was not as much fun as my February 2012 visit when the brewery was operating and we were able to see the old Abbey ruins. The interior looks completely different now, but it is well done. I was pleased to be able to browse... More

Initially when we visited Kilkenny, we hadn't planned on stopping by the brewery but I am so glad that we did. The price is more than affordable and includes a complimentary pint at the end of the tour. The tour is 45 minutes long but it is very interesting so it goes by quickly. I really enjoyed learning not only... More

We visited Kilkenny last year and as we were interested in the history of the local beer, we did the tour through the brewery. Our guide was a cute lady and she did her job very good, we enjoyed the tour from the beginning to the end including the Smithwick's Ale ;)

Didn't expect to enjoy this tour but I did, especially the talking paintings! My brother in law is the buff and knows all about beer and whisky making so to him it was quite basic, it was nice to get a pint of your choice of red or blonde Smithwicks at the end in a nice pub area. It lasted... More

Entry price is very reasonable which is refreshing when compared with Dublin's best known brewery tour. It's right in the city center. Polite staff and interesting tour. A little disappointing that beer is no longer actually brewed here so it's not really a brewery meaning the machinery etc is non functioning. Also, the tour is comprised predominantly of audio visual... More

It is amazing how much technology is used in this tour. Very well put together and choreographed. While Smithwick's (pronounced Smit-icks) is no longer brewed there, it doesn't matter for purposes of the tour and the history behind brewing as an Irishman pre-independence. Well worth the time and admission.

Great way to spend a couple of hours! We went on a Sunday afternoon in December so it was quite and we got a great one to one tour by a very friendly, knowledgeable and enthusiastic guide. We have done plenty of Brewery Tours at home and abroad and the Smithwick's Experience is one we really enjoyed. My wife had... More

I went to Smithwick's based on the recommendation of a cab driver. It was totally worth it. While Smithwick's is certainly smaller than the Guinness Storehouse, it is no less interesting to learn about the history of the Smithwick's Brewery and the process of brewing beer. Our tour guide was particularly knowledgeable and engaging. He made the visit even better... More
