Not a bad option for a rainy day in Kilkenny (of which they are likely to be many!). Liked our tour guide who was very enthusiastic. Tour takes around 60 minutes and brings you though the history of Smithwick's and then the brewing process. For those who have been to the Guinness Storehouse in Dublin, the tour contains a lot... Myself and my girlfriend did the tour yesterday and really enjoyed it. Our guide was Simon and he did a great job. The tour was informative and interesting starting with the Franciscan Monks story and continuing on with the history of the Smithwicks family and the brewing process. Lovely pint (soft drinks also available) at the end of the tour... More

The tour is interesting and the use of special effects gives the tour a little something extra, you are shown around by a guide who explains the whole brewing process as well as the history behind Smithwicks and of course the tasting at the end was great.

My wife and I have done a lot of facility tours in our travels and this was not one of the best. Tour started off with great promise in the original storehouse but after a brief video it became a tour of one of the owners house. Our guide didn't seem interested in the group and was not that entertaining.... More

Took this tour when passing through Kilkenny recently and it didn't disappoint. All staff we met were friendly and welcoming, the tour itself is well organised and nicely paced. Only improvement I could of is for the audio on each section of tour to be put on a timer which guide could control. In a couple of spots audio overlapped.... More

Smithwicks is a must see tour for any beer enthusiast! The tour was informative, personable, and very informative of the brewing process that goes into this ancient beer! This tour beats Guiness on many levels. No crowds, more personality and my opinion the beer is bette too. Kilkenny is also a wonderful city with great local pubs with live nightly... More

Myself and my husband did this tour on a recent weekend trip to Kilkenny. We really enjoyed every minute of the tour. Our guide Rita was excellent & you could tell she really enjoys her work. We would definitely recommend it & the pint afterwards is a nice touch !

Admittedly it's the only one as well. It's done well and pretty interesting although felt like there was a little filler from time to time. I think it's been improved though, so probably deserves more than the rating I've given it.
