My wife and I enjoyed this tour of the Smithwicks (don't pronounce the 'w') Brewery. We went on Saturday, so there wasn't production going on at that time. Mid-week tours might be more interesting for that reason. It was still fun to see their equipment and hear about the history of Smithwicks and how the beer is brewed. The tour... More

My fiance and I partially went to Kilkenny to experience this tour. Smithwick's is my favorite beer by far and I wanted to see the brewery before it closed its doors. I was not dissapointed in the least! Our tour guide was great and you can tell he truly loves his job. Not only was there historical facts, but we... More

I did both the Guinness Tour and Smithwicks... And they are drastically different from each other. Smithwicks is very authentic... You are on the brewery property, have to wear a safety vest/glasses and go into where the beer is made and people are working. You learn a lot about the history of the brewery... Both the site it's on, and... More

We did a tour around Irland through distilleries and breweries, and this as our last one turns out to be a truly disappointing experience. As with all other places we visited, we checked on the net about booking in advance. Most other places allow to do so even on the day before, which gives you a chance for planning. In... More

Didn't get a chance to go inside, but were able to walk around the grounds and it is right in town and easy walking distance from the Pembroke Hotel. It is closed on Mondays and we were really bummed we didn't get the chance to do the tour. However, I have heard the tour is excellent and that you get... More

Our guide (Ronan?) was very knowledgable and really had the gift of the gob, as the Irish seem to do. :) I mostly enjoyed the preliminary talk about the background of the brewery, you learnt so much about the history of Ireland, and Europe. The beer was lovely, a great hat!

We had a splendid tour with a very knowledgable guide, Rachel. She was not only informative, but energetic and enthusiastic! We also learned a lot about this precious beer and the 300 year history was very special. I am sorry to hear it will be closing this year. Make it a priority when hitting this town!! NOTE: make a reservation... More

Although we enjoyed the Guinness tour the first time we went, we found it a bit hokey and way too commercialized. Smithwick's is just the opposite. The tour guide was passionate about Smithwick's and new the ins and outs of the history of Smithwick's. He was friendly, articulate, enthusiastic and knowledgeable. If you are familiar with breweries then you may... More

Ronan gives a spirited tour with lots of interesting information. The pint he pours at the end will be unlike any other you have ever had. You won't regret this tour, I promise!

We liked this tour better than the Guiness tour in Dublin. It is a shame that they are going to close it down. The guide had worked at the brewery for many years. We learned how you pull a pint of Smithwicks and then the best part - we got to drink it. Smithwicks is delicious. The St. Francis Abbey... More
