Worthwhile monument to visit

Great historical site but very few visitors when we went. As good as the best round towers in Glendaloch.

This is a wonderful example of a Round Tower being lovingly restored by a group of hardy stonemasons. The wind was biting on the day I visited, it must have been even worse working higher up, but stone by stone, the work is being done. Congratulations to all concerned, I am sure future generations will appreciat your efforts too!

I live in Kerry and was exploring monastic sites further. Love the Irish round towers and this one is clearly visible from the main road in the flat countryside. What a perfect defence system from attack.... see the enemy coming and into the tower and up... to be safe and in a supreme position to defend and attack,. The top... More

This round tower is one of the finest examples of its type in Ireland, currently being renovated it is well worth a visit ,the graveyard alongside is well maintained by a dedicated group of local people .The Church that was beside the tower was moved to Ballybunnion long time ago and serves as a library

Been here a few times , this time I noticed that they where repointing and a general clean up , which looked unsteady ,this makes me wonder how they built it back in the days where scaffolding didn't exist I just dread to think , the little grave yard at the Carpark was interesting to with the house looking tombs... I never knew there was one here. We stopped by to see it and it is in amazing shape. The monastery is cool to see and the round tower is well preserved. They are currently working on it but it was a pleasure to stop by. It had scaffolding on it the day we were there, I can only imagine... More

Rattoo Round Tower is one of those little gems tucked away down a long, narrow lane. It is dry stone construction, and my wife and I wanted our Granddaughter to see it. Imagine our surprise when we got there and the tower was surrounded by scaffolding top to bottom and the gates locked. I suppose this means there will now... More

Easy to miss, as the single sign to it is often turned sideways by wind or local imps. Take a left down a long single lane road about a mile South of Ballyduff's town edge on the Tralee Road.
