May we never forget them.

A monument to 8 men who were killed when 9 volunteers were tied together by Free State Army and a bomb placed in their midst. One was thrown clear and lived to tell the tale.

Very worthwhile to remember the atrocities that are committed in civil war....history repeats...different country...different continent. Interesting history on the sculptor. While you here....worth having a stroll around the nearby Ballyseedy Woods

We attended a wedding at Ballyseedy Castle and it was out of this world. The area is fantastic and if you get good weather it is even better. and so near the small Kerry airport.

The monument represents a very bad and sad time in Kerry & Irish history. The monument is very well maintained and has a great design. There are plenty of explanations as to what went on here. Be careful, the road is much bigger and busier now than when the memorial was built. Pull to the side and see this place

A really beautiful memorial. However, the road is very busy and it's impossible to stop and linger. Pity there it wasn't set a little further back and there isn't a pull in area. Worth a look though, but would prefer a more leisurely look without being afraid of being rear-ended or getting run over.
